When they only get invited to perform their old music.

Edited by Virgos Groove

When they sing the same songs everywhere they go and those songs are old af. You know they stopped trying

when only an album (or more than one but always very specific of an era) it's everything people care about and everything else an artist has made after that it's forgotten (or never been successfull).

Cyndy Lauper is a nostalgia act.

Bruce Springsteen like everyone was more successful in a specific era too but still every album he has made for decades after his peak has been successfull or is recognized by fans and the gp.

so no i don't think nostalgia act only means "new albums don't sell too much and the artist only makes big tour" or everyone old is a nostalgia act.

A nostalgia act is someone very specific of an era, it's not a classic act.

When they are only respected as a legend but don't generate the big buzz/interest in them with regards to their new output both in sales and media/social media interest.

Someone like Zayn became a nostalgia act when they don't promote or perform their new music, they're forgotten now in America & western countries as a musician but only famous as a celebrity with bad reputation, & they are only remembered for their old music ("You & I" & "Night Changes") with nostalgia as a former teen idol before.

When people only consume their old music despite the artist having newer music.

Most of ATRLs faves are nostalgia acts bar Taylor, Beyoncé and the new Gen Z women.

When their new albums are flops and their tours are dominated by 10+ year old music.

When YT comments start looking a certain way

This. When they only talk about memories and their old music in their NEW music videos :deadbanana2:

When their old albums are charting higher and when their old songs have more streams than their new ones

when their new music no longer excites/ sells on its own and they have to resort to telling old tea to promote their new music

ex: p!nk's new album

i mean the longer that you go on performing your setlist is gonna add your greatest hits that doesn't make you a nostalgia act
