Hung Up's peak was HUGE in Europe - 12 weeks on top of the European Hot 100, #18 and #3 for 2005 and 2006 respectively.

4 Minutes was a cute #5 for 2008 with 4 weeks at #1 but Hung Up was on a whole other level

 

HU did wonders for the debut of Confessions, making the album have very high debuts mainly in Europe and was another top 10 in the US even at a time when consumption was mostly r&b

4 Minutes was one of the biggest hits of 2008 but it didn't help Hard Candy sales the same way as HU

I know both, in the US I heard 4 Minutes all the time and it felt bigger, so.

Believe it or not... I do not like HU and think that it is one of the weakest songs on COADF (Team GT and Jump and FL anyday)...

 

also, 4 Minutes is great. so I voted for that.

I somehow missed Hung Up growing up, I don’t remember it whereas I was obsessed with Music and 4 Minutes.

 

So 4 Minutes felt a lot bigger to me but based on the stats probably Hung Up. 

Hung up is a monstrous hit. 4 minutes was a smash as well but obviously weaker. 

Hung up and it ain’t even close

Both massive, but Hung Up is in another league.
