It is oft-repeated that Christina Aguilera was the #1 artist of the year 2000.
However, even if we ignore Oops, I was interested to see that Céline Dion's greatest hits compilation All the Way...A Decade of Song outsold and outpeaked Xtina's debut on the year-end charts of 2000.
All the Way sold over 22 million copies worldwide (her third best seller) compared to Christina Aguilera's 12 million (a career best).
When it comes to singles, Christina has the edge but I feel like That's the Way It Is is a bigger classic and more remembered than any of the singles from Aguilera's debut .
TTWII currently does better on daily YT views than any of the singles from X and also has more overall views than Genie in a Bottle (the era's most popular song/video).
Even non-single If Walls Could Talk is getting higher daily views than #1 What a Girl Wants.
On the Decade-end charts for the 2000s, All the Way ranks at #26 and Christina Aguilera at #23 but Céline obliterates WW.
So, it seems like Miss Dion may have the edge, but it'd be interested to see what everyone else thinks.
Who wins the battle of 1999-2000?
