Why is Thique so underrated?

Featured Replies

Why does this absolute masterpiece (top-2 on Rennie, behind America Has a Prophetess) remain so underappreciated?

Why do the chronically tasteless remain incapable of giving that 11/10 production its dues?

Why has that Tinashe'd 2nd verse not been put in the MoMA yet?

Why are the stunning harmonies in the outro not being studied in schools all over the world?

Why does comic book villain Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter keep withholding the visuals, knowing they could heal the Ozone layer, reverse climate change and bring about world peace?

I want answers.

A really boring and tired metaphor, all for an absolutely purposeless song; it contributes absolutely nothing :deadbanana2: She went over the top with the ego on this one.

Nice production, but ultimately a forgettable an unnecessary part of GODAISSANCE

The last 2 mins of the song (or so) + the outro is one of the best parts of the album.

You're absolutely correct about AMERICA HAS A PROPHETESS but THIQUE is appropriately rated

what's the tired metaphor? are you referring to the adjective "thick"?

'thique' referring to both how sexy and how wealthy she is. Metaphor wasn't the perfect word (though it still stands) - but I am personally so beyond tired of this type of song/lyric from her. Enough girl :deadbanana4: REN is amazing production through and through - this is obvious - but damn I'd love for her to switch up what she sings about. I get the larger-than-life and bragging is her thing, but I wouldn't call it 'substance' per se.

The second half is good and vocally playful, but the first half is arguably the cringiest part of the album.

That's that summer
That's them hummers
That's that girl, give me your number
That's that Jordy
That's that Scarlett
That I just got out of college
That's that I don't do this usually
I don't know what you do to me
(That I don't do this usually
I don't know what you do to me)

She actually has a song called "Thique" on the album? I thought this was a spoof thread. I feel like her writing camps scour the internet to find trendy ways that "the kids talk" to make songs for her. This explains her recurrent streams are so poor. It's about what's trendy now. Very of the moment. Anyway, will listen to "Thique" (lol) and let you know what I think.

we needed an actual Tinashe feature for it to be rated properly i'm afraid

Top 1 on Renaissance. Can't believe it's so underrated. Definitely the biggest banger on the album if you ask me.

It's in my Top 5 I think but the 2nd verse is literally the best moment on the album :penguin:

Is it? Everyone I know loves it. This is easily one of the best parts of the entire album:

"Ooh, it's that strawberry, this that grape and cherry
This that Ginsu, cut that b- like culinary
Ooh, this the bounce, spend my money, make it count
If it's lost then it get found
Just keep dropping that sh- down

This is the best part of the song (and makes it album worthy) - but the full song is just good. I honestly which she kept this part and merged it with a different song to put on the album.

That's a song for bad *******, not everyone is a bad *****

I love Thique! It’s upper mid tier in the album for me and the constantly dragged first verse is not nearly as cringy as I’m That Girl and Church Girls chorus. It deserves more!

This is the only good part of the song and it’s where it all picks up for me. The rest of the song is tiresome and it’s definitely the worst on the album, sorry :biblio:
