I was kind of thinking about something that could be one of the topics of discussion for the day (something I want to do regularly):

For those of you who were fans of OT9 SNSD, how did you deal with Jessica’s departure? If she was your bias, did it change how you looked at the group afterward?

It’s been almost 10 years since she left SNSD. With most of the girls at other labels now despite coming together for group comebacks, what would you make of Jessica reuniting with the girls and that leading to her rejoining the group? Think it could happen or has too much damage been done?

It literally was viewed as the end of the group, SNSD did not make the 7 year curse. For SONES, it did change how they looked at the group because the 9 were viewed as unbreakable sisters, but since that happened, SNSD is just viewed as a bunch of catty girls

Jessica can't reunite with the group, going to China to promote is the end of your career in Korea

New kpop fans are such LARPers I cannot stand them

The same people who said that when Jaws left were proven wrong by Lion Heart and then said that they would surely be over after sy, seo, and stiff left SM but after HN and an unprecedented 5 year hiatus for a non-disbanded girl group Forever 1 did numbers both as a single and album. They also paved the way for idol group comebacks with members at different companies at the same time.:skeleton:

Even Sunny who is basically retired remains a higher profile name than 95% of 2nd gen female idols. Stay mad that SNSD beat the odds like they always do. :skeleton:

Even Plastica who everybody hates now is doing better than anybody from a non-snsd 2nd Gen GG except Hyuna and Sunmi. Snsd and winning are synonymous. :skeleton:

A group of catty girls wouldn't even make it into 8 let alone 16 years in an industry and like who are this SONEs you speak of?

Half of these girls literally live in the same neighborhood but I guess that's what catty girls who hate each other do.

Yes, new kpop fan. it was a different time back then, when leaving a group meant your companys stock fell and it marked the decline of your group. Its not like now where a stray kid can leave and their group hits big

And a five year hiatus is not SM believing in your group. Red Velvet did worse than expected and SNSD crumbled, which is why Twice is even relevant as a group nowadays. They were the 2nd SNSD, A YEAR AFTER JESSICAS DEPARTURE. If SNSD was truly a national GG from 2015-now, there wouldn't be A SECOND SNSD

Korean SONES literally think all of them are catty besides Yoona and Seolhyun, and read above, new kpop fan

Stray Kids about to release another title track and S-Class is doing +680k daily streams on Spotify and +520k on Youtube. She's a stable queen

Freaks like you need to realize that just because delusive mouthbreathing forum users are able to run with a narrative in their internet echo chambers that are literally detached from Korea outside of selectively translated comments from the most HATEFUL knetz, doesn't mean that everybody bought those narratives.

@lgaga1fan we've been friends for at least 7 years now, have I gone a single day without bringing up Girls' Generation? Did I not introduce them to you(and kpop as a whole) as my lifelong obsession? :thing:

@Sheep has been in the SONE trenches for over a decade... it seems like youre the one that needs to be caught up to speed. Half of SNSD isn't signed to SM and the one comeback they put out since HN did well on Korean digital charts + had two successful fanmeet concerts. Lion Heart sold well and performed well and they went on to do several concerts and have comebacks after that release. Taeyeon alone has singles as big as SNSD hits, let alone the rest of the members who have succeeded in other fields. The random energy for you to come in here and start preaching to a group of sheep about SM artists when you aren't active here and calling them new fans is sending a bit.

I've been around 2010 stanning them so don't jump into conclusions.

You're accusing as new fans but you seems so out of touch of the current reality.

I need you to cite where are this Korean SONES cause they couldn't be the same SONES who filled out KSPO DOME last year and made their 15th year cb possible

Why is SM entertainment not the powerhouse company that it was in 2010

Because Red Velvet gave the GG crown to Twice and BP, Jessica left SNSD, Kris/Tao/Luhan left EXO, and all SM could do is Beatburger level tracks

6 years ago was 2017, new kpop fan. SNSD was on hiatus by then. If you weren't there before BTSs debut, don't speak on old kpop. Old kpop = SM entertainment &  YG were the biggest powerhouse, no HYBE, JYP decline

Just because you stan SNSD post Jessica leaving doesn't mean you were actually there, and you have no idea what you are talking about

I literally was online on two different kpop forums at the same time during 930 and caught her statement before it was taken down. The point was even 7 years ago I had already been a lifelong fan. :skeleton:

I used to go by a different name on forums and im 100% sure that certain other hag fans like @Gorjesspazze9 and @Swirl900 would recognize me from back in the day but it was my real name so let me not. :skeleton:

Receipts for 2010 stanning because I don't see it. Who was the most popular member then and what were they known for? Should be easy to answer.

Also SM entertainment robs their loyal fanbases (EXO-Ls, SONES, ELFs) for aespa comebacks and duh SNSD could fill out a stadium (because SNSD is literally the childhood and adulthoods of most Korean people). Yall keep comparing them to groups with literally dead members (KARA), but thats not what I'm talking about

SNSD was never more successful without Jessica and every old kpop fan knows this
