Cecily Strong leaving SNL

Featured Replies

is it just me or has this season been p bad? like SNL hasn't been good in years but this season has been especially snoozeworthy. the show needs to a complete revamping.

A true end of an era. :chick3:

Cecily - Kate - Aidy were the pinnacle of female SNL members for years and to see the last of the trio leave truly saddens me. Cecily more likely wanted to stay to beat Kate out as the longest female member of SNL :dies:

You WILL be missed Cecily. :clap3:

There no one left but Keenan. Everyone else is S H I T !!!

!!!!! And no new big stars seem to be emerging

I think they'll end it with Season 50. Its clear as day that its not rebounding from losing all its best players.

People always say SNL is over whenever a big cast member leaves throughout the years. But someone new always comes in and becomes the new star, there's no shortage of new talent out there. They'll be fine

and people have been saying this about the current line up for ages as well and its clear that its not happening. they are not casting well enough. there are no memorable people on the cast. it needs to happen now.

Bowen Yang, Chloe Fineman, Ego Nwodim, James Austin Johnson are all great, the Please Don't Destroy guys too. Michael Longfellow is a standout of this new season. There will likely be a big cast shake up for the next season, so we'll see who they bring. SNL is the dream of every comedian in the country, it's not hard for them to find new stars.

i wonder how much lorne paid her to stay on this sinking ship after kate and aidy left so that they wouldn’t lose all three of them at once.

they should have a massive overhaul and fire almost all of the writers + cast excluding bowen, chloe, sarah, and pdd, and maybe a couple of others, basically all of the cast members who actually understand modern humour and what goes viral and then maybe they’ll be able to become culturally relevant again.

Bowen will last one more season given the projects he is already getting. Chloe Fineman is one of the unfunniest players they had in years. Ego is great, but underused. Please Don't Destroy are okay, but not enough to carry an episode.

I'm not disagreeing that there enough people to cast, but the Lorne hasn't cast great people for a long time now. The writers room is really weak too. Not to mention that being good at SNL and being a good comedian is a very small overlap, which we have seen time and time again.

This is just all my opinion though, SNL is one of those things that is really hard to agree on. Some fans think it's in its peak right now, which is frankly ridiculous to me but more power to them. I personally haven't been a fan of a major player in a really long time. And ending it with season 50 would make logical sense too since no one will be able to get this show out of Lorne's grip, dead or alive lmao.

I don't think being good at impressions makes someone funny but to each their own <3

that was rumored but Lorne Michaels denied it. it’s still a big hit even tho the show itself is a shell of its former self, I doubt NBC would let it go esp in a time when v few cable shows still can attract viewers.

Wow. Huge blow. She was the last truly hilarious person left.

I’ll be looking forward to whatever she does next!

damnnn that’s a huge loss for the show :biblio: i haven’t been a regular watcher for about 9 years but every time i watch more recent clips on youtube, she’s one of the all time funniest players

they still have 3x emmy nominee bowen yang, theyre still ok
