Rih has a lot of pent up hype from her many years of hiatus and the GP is eagerly waiting for her next musical venture. But can she unseat the reigning queen of streaming and success Taylor?

 

i dont think she has a shot at outselling her since she was never a strong album seller, but she might be able to outstream and bag smash hits (something Taylor hasn’t had since like Delicate)

If she smashes with R9 then she probably have the chance to do it with R10 (only if R10 is released quickly after R9, which is something she will never do). 

With R9? Definitely not

she can try 

US & Europe? Yes. Asia is probably where she won't be able to compete

Rih has never had huge debut weeks..

 

But in saying that, I'm sure her numbers will be up there, especially if the single(s) prior smash and create more hype.

Depends on the number of tracks and quality. But generally yes, the hype is there.

But streaming numbers is not really about trying is it? Taylor didn't even have good playlisting numbers. 

no, taylor is basically a man at this point no other woman can compete with that

Also you can’t force people to stream. All those huge numbers are from people who care enough to listen. Taylor can only “care” when it comes to physical copies

Exactly. Her streaming numbers are not about trying at all. If that was the case she would have much better playlist reach. 

It depends on the number of tracks #R9 has. If she has less than 10? No. 15+? It’s a huge possibility. 

 

Swift released one album with 14 tracks and then another edition with 7 bonus tracks and (please correct me if I’m wrong) aren’t/weren’t there multiple other editions released also?
 

Aside from that, Swift has marketed this album very well. She announced it a month or so ago, allowed the hype to grow and then, this past week, has promoted it to her audience.

I think so, yeah.

Unless Bad Bunny releases another album before her, then I see R9 beating the Taylor's numbers pretty comfortably.

Wrong. 13 + 7.

The first official release on the streaming platforms had only 13 tracks, meanwhile another edition was released 3 hours later with 7 bonus tracks.

 

OT: Rihanna definitely can debut with 100m streams because I fear that the hype is big plus if somehow the BP soundtracks songs smash it can grow her hype. But is R9 actually coming? Didn't HDD say that Rihanna is still working for it unless I am missing something.

No, I feel like people are setting up Rih by constantly comparing her to Taylor.

 

Taylor’s fanbase is insane and unbeatable, I really don’t see it but her numbers will be impressive in their own right. 

If anyone can do it, it's Rihanna. 

 

EDIT: but no matter what, it's clear R9's streaming numbers will be insane. I'm expecting 100M+, which would be at the very least the second biggest female debut. Considering Rih has been absent from the music scene for almost seven (7!!) years, this would be massive.

 

EDIT2: also, if anyone's going to snatch the record from Taylor, I'd rather it being Rihanna than another male artist.
