The best song was Jimmy Cooks and only because of the feature 21 Savage. He needed more features on this album to bring it to life. A Nicki feature, Jay feature, Wayne feature, etc etc .

 

Drakes been runnin on fumes since the new decade. Looks like he only dominated the 10s but it starting to stall in the 2020s

Plus the music was mediocre for the most part. He should’ve made it a short ass EP and moved on

0 music videos, 0 promo, Bad Bunny slaying, and a complete sound change from what his consumers are used to. No one would be smashing if they had a sudden sound change. Still did cute numbers overall.

 

It was a random, rushed studio album released shortly after his last effort. Some of you are looking into it too much. If you're an established act, longevity is harder to accomplish these days as you already have a fan base, who tend to listen to an album during its first few weeks of release.

This. Had he leaned into the house-rap sound of Sticky, it probably would've been better received, but his fanbase just isn't here for songs like Massive or Calling My Name. Having the worst song on the album as the first track didn't help.

This too. It needed variety and especially more energy. Too many vibes, not enough grooves. Where were Disclosure and Kaytranada when they were needed?

 

 

Still, I do appreciate what he tried to do. It's his first project since IYRTITL that isn't him trying to please everyone. And he gave us Sticky aka one of the year's best songs.

Nothing went wrong. He's just over saturated. He needs to take a break. A decade should suffice.

Honestly, Nevermind is just bad and uninspired. If it was good, it would've been received better, hell, it could've even been a cultural reset.

But he's never been a pure rap artist, most of his biggest successes have been with pop/dance elements where he's singing more than rapping. I think the material just didn't catch on this time around, wasn't promoted well, and without a big hit it was only the fans buying.

it's kind of fantastic he managed to have a #1 and another top 10 hit from this album. his crowd didn't want it and it shows. personally it's becoming my favorite project by him.

True, but there are always things that an artist can do to keep the era alive/interesting. For instance, a tour, more music videos, remixes/collabs, interviews and performances etc. 

Not "his two singles peaked at #6 and #14" when one of the songs in the album went #1.

The album is not what his fans are used to hear from him and it wasn't massive during its first weeks, but it's stable.
