Apparently the rarest one of the lot :gaycat6: but it is probably still getting sold somewhere so I am sure we will get it eventually. If this is her xcx world, Keep It is her Taxi.

I think my fav is Love Ya Leave Ya. You can really hear the Britney influence. :jamming:

One thing i noticed yesterday is how the straights were dragging her under the Twitch comments when she was singing Slvt Pop songs, but most of them changed their minds once she started singing CDB and RUTH, showcasing her vocals. They went from "this **** is not music" to "oh maybe she can sing"

Kim is a great vocalist and i feel like she needs to show off more of that side bc it's going unnoticed by people who don't know her that much. I hope on the new album she finds a balance between some slutty songs, dance-pop party bops and some vulnerable/personal tracks where she can display her vocals at front and center. That would be perfect for her, and if something doesn't work... at least there will be something else on the album to push.

I love this one! Now that you mention it, I def hear some Britney influence. Even the choice to use an accordion is similar to "Criminal"  which used that flute. Pop songs that incorporate un-expected instruments is really interesting to the ear.

Yeah I show Kim to my straight friends and they all hated Sl*t Pop :rip: but they LOVE TOTL and Clarity/Era 1 singles! So much that I randomly see them listening to her on their Spotify :coffee:

Kim's vocals have always been one of the strongest aspects in her music in general. Not just because of belting, it's just the way she uses her vocals that sounds like they were made for pop music. And she plays a lot with her voice in her tracks, with the backing vocals or the high notes in the background. Something I totally adore from her is when she uses a soft register for the background vocals that add a lot of layer to the tracks (don't know how to explain this in a better way, it's what she does in Deeper for example in the last chorus, when she adds the "deeper, deeper baby" part to the regular chorus). It's a reach of course, but this use of her vocals it's something that we rarely get to hear from pop girls that's very reminiscent to me of the way Britney is known for adding flavours to anything she sings just by modulating her voice.

And most of the times her live renditions are even better than the studio versions. What initially disappointed from Revelations, for example, was how the studio version was completely missing the beltings she does in the live version that made the soung way fuller and richer. It's been harder for her lately 'cause she does a lot more choreo in her sets, but she still has great moments vocally. The Outside Festival set was very good in that sense, it seemed like she practiced her vocals a lot more recently or she's simply in a better shape, both vocally and physically.

Also you misspelled "Close Your Eyes" as "There Will Be Blood", weird.

omg you completely described what ive been trying to express for years when it comes to Kim

As much as people love to compare her to Ava/Bebe/Zara, there is just something extra in the way Kim delivers her vocals and the way her phrasing, attitude and personality all elevate the songs in ways that is really only comparable to Britney.

These new pop girls have vocals abilities that far extend beyond what Britney and the pop girls of the early 2000s had (sans Xtina) but they lack the same creative and compelling delivery that this crop of girls did so well. That's what makes Kim truly unlike her peers and honestly any other pop girls of the moment -- she brings together amazing vocal abilities and captivating vocal delivery in a way that I've honestly never heard in a pop artist before. Songs like I Don't Want It At All, Heart to Break, Do Me, Icy, Personal Hell all are oozing with personality and stylish choices that all elevate the song while also featuring her wailing at the end and doing vocal acrobatics that she hardly ever gets credit for.

She really brings together all of these vocal skills and techniques in a way that as u said feels like it was made to be the perfect pop voice and package. Now if only she could learn to dance and work on her bringing the whole package together. She also needs to STOP performing **** Pop and ignore its existence.

Exactly, all of this is a major part in why Era 1 stood out so much and was highly praised not just by the gays, but by music critics in general. It’s the same that can be said for Carly Rae Jepsen, she’s another example of a voice (regardless of how high or low they can go, or belting perfect notes etc.) that oozes so much personality that it becomes a trademark.

Her music is full of little details in her vocals that are pure pop perfection, the way she modulates her voice at times can be brilliant with very little effort from her or the producers. And she’s never afraid of trying even new things when it comes in her vocal delivery (for example, the vocal fry she used for most of Clarity and her “trap” songs).

No wonder the “woo-ah” tagline became memorable and was also delivered in multiple ways throughout her career, the horror version of it in the halloween eps is priceless.

I remember listening to Slow It Down for the first time, and some of the notes she hits there are insane. I'm still not entirely convinced she doesn't hit a whistle note.

Ikr, that song is a masterpiece and one of her most underrated song ever. And live is simply just as good:

Amazing. She def seemed more relaxed and sure of herself onstage 2017-2019. I think adding choreo and dancers overwhelmed her. I know the natural progression for a pop girl is to add dancing but Kim's transition into that phase wasn't the most natural. Luckily she's been better lately with balancing choreo w/vocals and just giving the performance her own vibe.

Add All The Time and HIFTB to the list of songs that didn't get the same adlibs in the studio version as the live versions. I wish she had gone back in the studio to record those All the Time vocals before the song was released.

Kim is a master at creating seamless, perfect adlibs in songs. She understands melody & emphasis and that's what good pop music is all about. Those little touches that aren't so little. They elevate the song

yes she always looks so much more comfortable when she's just doing her own thing. I'm not saying she shouldn't do choreo period, but they should really scale it back. she doesn't need it.

Her new songs are missing a lot of adlibs/high notes that elevate her older songs I think that’s what makes her new stuff a bit underwhelming. A lot of the songs I was hyped for were bland compared to her live versions since they’re missing her signature adlibs. For example in HIFTB live version she does a “hit if from the baaaaaaaaaaack!” Then the studio version it’s just “hit it from the back!” :skull:

100%. Maybe it was a conscious choice to scale back knowing this was her major label "debut"? Make it more "palatable" for the GP. I've seen ppl say that Kim was technically staying true to the 90s Euro pop/French disco influences bc those songs were very repetitive and didn't go too far. But maybe she and Luke took that too literal which ended up making her avoid big adlibs and strong last choruses. It's unlike Luke to not include a sick vocoder breakdown a la Slow It Down or IDWIAA.

I mean compare a song like Do Me to Je T'Adore or even FSN. The only song from Problematique that has those signature Kim adlibs is Coconuts. That's why I also think most of the leaked songs were not fully finished bc they weren't ever greenlit for release. :monkey:

You guys also have to take into account that one thing is to perform in front of a hundred of die-hard fans that know every lyrics, another thing is to sing in front 50k and more people at some of the biggest festivals in the world. There’s no way you can be as confident as you are in small clubs, Kim played major events since last year and I think just lately she finally seems to be relaxed and like she’s having fun.

All of this :clap3:

I also noticed how some studio versions sounded quiet in comparison to the live ones; it was def on purpose but at first i was a bit underwhelmed with some of them because of that, now i got used to it and love them all.

The latest festival set ATE her Coachella set by miles. On her looks, voice and overall performance.

This, i've been noticed that too. When she first performed at Lollapalooza she was SO nervous that she sounded out of breath even during the interview :skull:

The EMAs were a bit messy too, we can tell she was nervous trying to do the choreo in a perfect way, and her breathing through the mic almost ruined the performance even though her vocals were on point. Same goes to the VMA performance, she was so stiff and looked out of breath for most of the time.

Thankfully she's now learning to have more fun and be more relaxed on stage. She was serving so much confidence during the Clarity Tour, then it seemed like she lost it and now she's getting back to it, which is nice.

MTE. Although i can see why she wants dancers and stuff, and she's getting used to it little by little.

Hi I’m super late. Been following Kim since era 1 (do we call it “the summer I couldn’t do better” now? That title is so dumb).

I just listened for the first time to the leak, and I read through the first few pages here. I don’t get y’all.

I actually really like the album???? I agree it’s kind of the same song on loop but I guess I like that song so I like the album. Is it a masterpiece? Not really. Would it pop her off? Probably not - so Republic was right to hold it back. But I do like it. It’s good pop music to play while driving on a summer day with the wind blowing. I think it’s fun and it’s decent. Not her best work, but decent.

In my opinion:

Era 1 > TOTL > Problematique > Clarity >>>>>>>>>>>> literally nails on a chalkboard >>>>>>> Sl*t Pop

lemme put y'all onto the MOST COHESIVE tracklist :coffee:

give it a chance before y'all come 4 me & you'll see how beautifully it flows :rainbow::

1. Future Starts Now

2. Je T'adore (flows SEAMLESSLY after FSN)

3. Hit It From the Back

4. Coconuts

5. Born Again

6. Confession

7. Sex Talk

8. Love Ya Leave Ya

9. All She Wants (feat. Paris Hilton)

10. Deeper

11. Left My Body

12. Revelations

13. Your Time to Cry

14. Something About You

15. Problématique

16. Malibu (Optional encore)

Kim once again teased the new single on TikTok, saying she was blasting out loud on her way to the Outside Lands festival.

It's the Sam feature and i think it's almost *safe* to say that it is her single, intended for her album as the lead. BunheadHQ also teased they're excited for the "next chapter", so this weekend was probably the closure for the **** Pop era.

I hope her activities for the new album starts next month and Republic don't fxck this up with a messy schedule, Kim and Sam also better shoot the vid in time for the song's release.

One thing that really intrigues me about this album as her major label debut is just how kitschy it is. She's always had a persona to each of her projects, but this one feels so extra that I can't believe the label would push for it.

Anyway, now that they're moving forward, I hope we get more in the vein of Deeper. Kind of downtempo, but still clubby and poppy. Seeing as Sam seems to be on Kim's new single, I'm expecting something similar to How Do You Sleep or Dancing with a Stranger but with a Kim flair which I think could be perfect for both of them.

Me too. Though i'm scared it'll be Treat Me Like a Hoe since Sam tweeted the "oooh daddy daddy" lyrics :deadbanana4: She can't be that dumb on waste a Sam Smith feature with that song

And i feel like she should save Deeper and add a rapper to it, either female or male. It would be so good
