#1 next week: Bad Bunny vs Bey

Featured Replies

We all know Queen Bey will be #1 in the US following its release, but who do you think will snatch the #1 on Beyonce’s 2nd week? Bad Bunny’s physicals are releasing/shipping that week, so who do you think will have the advantage? :giraffe:

EDIT: With Bey’s 1st week numbers it seems that Bad Bunny will definitely snatch the #1 album the following week. He hasn’t dropped below 100k units based on streaming only, and now he’ll have that physical copies boost. :gaycat1:

since bad bunny is only known in US its hard to tell, i feel she may get #1 in AUS with her album at least on release day.

The fact that she outlasted all her peers and is going up against the hot artist of the moment for Gen Z…

We don’t know the details of Beyoncé’s release. She might just release the video for BMS on album release date and then videos for the other songs on second week, or whatever.

Omg I didn't think about it but she really did.

Britney = retired, for obvious reasons, she has earned it

JT = legacy erased, humiliated, flopping hard for the last 5 years

P!nk = last album flopped, today feels somewhat irrelevant (no shade)

Ashanti = lol

JLo = music career bombing hard for the last decade

Christina = flopping for the last 14 years

The only other artist from the class of 99 TRL that is still somewhat on the same level is Eminem. They ended up being the only ones to truly last this long. Although Britney (and perhaps P!nk and JT) could have a comeback with the right music.

Isn't Eminem releasing that week?

He is going to release a compilation album of songs that have been available on streaming platforms for 10+ years

Em and Bey are the last pre 2000s artists still standing with significant chart power, its crazy!

And after them the oldest is Taylor (2006, Rih has retired lbr) like :deadbanana2: the gap!

Beyoncé went from being in the Top 10 with Janet Jackson (who even from Gen Z thinks of Janet Jackson nowadays?) to potentially blocking Bad Bunny who was 3 yrs old when Bey debuted :toofunny2: the LONGEVITY

one thing i will say tho, Bey still has a HIT on her hands while Eminem is now just an albums artist :fan:

Yep, she's the last remaining 90s female artist.

Hurts 2B Human and All I Know So Far project outsaled Everything is Love, Homecoming and The Gift.

She definitely will

her album numbers are always good so I am not worried for her

The difference is that she actually is TRYING :dies:

all the other ones just lost the drive, only P!nk pushed thru (and u can still argue that they are close)

So her studio albums outsold side projects? Now what about Lemonade?

No way she's selling +100k on her second week so Bad Bunny will win.

Godzilla peaked at #3 as well as Killshot, adn lucky you at #6 without radio. If by hits you mean radio payola, obviously Eminem doesn't have them, otherwise I don't see where Beyonce has hits where Eminem does not.

I feel like Bey could do around 5 weeks at #1. August is looking extremely DRY. Zero competition so far. Also dont expect bad bunny to make much pure sales impact. His music isnt really something people want to listen to on vinyl or cd. You listen to that album outside, on a roadtrip or at the beach. Not with your vinyl player at home.

It amazes me that people will lump Beyonce with the crew from 1998-1999 as if there aren't 2005/2006 people who are closer to her debut album release.

that being said, I think Beyonce could be #1 for 2-3 weeks but Bad bunny will likely take over. I wonder if he's prepping a new single that might give him another boost.

Let discuss that when some of her peers release new music. It’s not like they are releasing music ( sans xtina :rip: )

same level of beautiful trauma, lemonade from 2016 and beautiful trauma 2017. Both at around 3 million copies WW and 5-6m units
