Normani has been recently snubbed by the BET Awards including Lil Nas X. How is Jack Harlow who is not even BLACK get nominated? but Normani who is a beautiful darkskinned chocolate queen released the best video of Year with amazing choreo and sets and even a mainstream artist could not get a single nomination. I feel like Kanye when Taylor won over Beyoncé. This is  UNFAIR. It’s weird how it won a Soul Train for VOTY but they couldn’t put her in VOTY Category for BET

I mean it’s quite easy to snub an artist who only releases once a year and doesn’t seem to make themselves known to the music industry in any way

Normani’s snub made sense cause outside Wild Side (which didn’t make enough mainstream noise), she didn’t stand out last year. Nas X snub was foul.

She showed her hole, that's why.

Normani absolutely should’ve been nominated for that video. It was a stellar visual, undeniably so. However, given her lack of visibility since then, I’m not surprised. Her hustle isn’t there and when it is, the execution always feels like “abort mission.” Nothing is ever seen through. She really needs to get a debut album out there, it can’t be said enough. Time is not on her side.
 

The Lil’ Nas X snub is a little more surprising, since they “agreed” to have him perform a “controversial” (to those who act like it was the end of the ******* world) set last year.

But the homophobia won, I guess. I expect very little from my community when it comes to supporting black queer artists unless they are feminine women, which is less “threatening” and more inviting to men. If Monty was a bisexual woman, not lacking in femininity, there’d be no snub because girl-on-girl is acceptable when it’s depicted as a stunt to entice a heterosexual man’s libido.

Did Wild Side make airwaves among the black community? If not, then I'd understand the omission, what is weird is the Nas snub because he actually had a big year and even worse nominating Jack instead

Yes. Wild Side did great on urban radio and peaked at #4 on the R&B/Hip-Hop charts. But like @Insanity said, no one is guaranteed a nomination. It doesn’t mean she didn’t deserve one, though. Agree with you about LNX, but it’s blatant homophobia and I don’t care to regard any other reason why. The Jack nom is a slap in his face. 

If Lil Nas got snubbed by BET, Nomoney had no chance. Wild Side is a decent song but her promo or saturation into market is non-existent. 

She doesn't care enough about her career, why would she be nominated (for)?

It feels like she released Wild Side ages ago, but it was only last year. Maybe they felt the same?

Flop Me had a video and was uptempo and the audience still shipped it back. Fair was a ballad that no one wanted from Normani. Not the same thing.
