Normally I'd agree that SM shouldn't be so controlling when it comes to aespa's lip-syncing, especially 2 years into their career, but in this case I sort of understand. It's not uncommon for acts to use backtrack during performances at universities and such, I'm pretty sure IVE did the same literally a week ago. aespa only seem to be getting heat for it because they're the moment q they have a reputation for not singing live

Not people here pretending it was the NORM to sing live in the 3rd gen when people only started dragging Twice's vocals during M&M, way past their debut days, BP almost never sings live (Or sing at all), RV did sometimes and MMM was the only group doing it consistently like no need to deny it, you all became vocal coaches the minute you realized it was the only way to drag Giselle and her lackeys.

aespa is hardly the only group to lip their festival performance lol

twice just finished their world tour where they sang live, bp always sing live at concerts and festivals, rv just did a festival live

People dragged Twice from like Ooh ahh. Wasn’t there a meme Sana had a cold every comeback since she lipped a lot   Itzy literally have a dance practise with them singing Not Shy live (before Aespa debuted). I don’t really care that much but having one actual live performance does seem a bit odd especially for such a huge group. 

What is this mess? If it was anyone else they’d be skulldragged

Yep there is unfortunately no WENDY in this gen. Though her exemplary level of talent is rare in K-Pop generally.
