Doukoku is Shizuka Kudo's 18th single and her signature song, having sold about 939k copies. It hit no. 1 on the charts and became the 19th best-selling song of 1993. It was written by Miyuki Nakajima, one of Shizuka's main collaborators, and produced by Tsugudoshi Goto. The song was used as the opening theme for the dorama 'Ano Hi ni Kaeritai', where Shizuka starred alongside Momoko Kikuchi as sisters who fell in love with the same man. Momoko was kinda hard for me to rate. I didn't hate anything, but it all kind of blended together. Like her voice didn't help the melodies stick at all and I couldn't grasp onto the lyrics because of the language barrier

I thought the exact same. Everything was pleasant to listen to, but nothing stood out at the end and all of it blended together.
