It was written by Chisato herself and produced by Miharu Koshi, mostly renowned for her 1984 album Parallelisme. Miharu was raised on French chanson, and a lot of her music has French influences, which transmitted to Chisato's song.

Tantei Monogatari is Hiroko Yakushimaru's 2nd single and one of her signature songs, along with Sailor Fuku to Kikanjuu and Woman "W no Higeki" Yori. It's her second best-seller and was the 4th best-selling song of 1983. It shares its name with the film where Hiroko was the lead character. It was written by the aforementioned Takashi Matsumoto, who based it on his experience of having to wear a cast after breaking his leg. Although the song is romantic in nature, he managed to insert some of his struggles there. The song's produced also convinced Hiroko to carry on with her singing career as she was ready to focus entirely on acting.

Kyle-x: Stunning voice.
AMIT: Her voice is truly beautiful and the production is dynamic enough for me to enjoy this song a lot. 
Suilen: A fine example of traditional Japanese songwriting, minimalist yet efficient. I suppose that if you don't know Japanese and don't care for other elements of the song, it just falls flat. Maybe Woman would've done better, but it's still in the same vein, and it's worth noting that she was probably the closest to Momoe out of all her successors, which means that her music is as 'idol' as it gets.
