The fact that somewhere between 2013 and 2016 Selena was confident performer even between highs and lows. AMAs 2019 was a tragedy.

But where did u see that? I haven't seen this interview at all

She doesn't want to be a lead role, she doesn't want to do a certain type of genres, she doesn't want to sing with her role, she doesn't want to have sex scenes or kiss on the lips.

but just wanted to point out - legit the only selena song that was in my top 50 on spotify was love on.
I feel like she has no personality anymore tbh, while Ari keeps being an actress and a singer and actully showing her colors, selena just decided to make all her colors grey and with all the victim complex it even makes it harder for me to keep stanning her.
I hope she comes back with new music, hopefuly good one and the last 2 who were basicly a 30's old singer doing a disney song (no shade but for real).

 

i'm not longer stanning her tbh, its boring and there's nothing to stan...even her actress career seems robotic as she keeps despising herself. she was my first and i still love her and i always will but its just...time to admit she's a nostalgic act, no new music or collabs at least to keep us motivated. hope she realize how she underestimate herself before its too late. goodbye selenation.

Why is there so much negativity and hate towards Selena? I'm so tired of seeing people hate everything that she does, it's like she can't have anything. Look Ariana being celebrated and look at Selena being hated everyday; Selena also deserves respect and her flowers, she works a lot. I don't know, I feel really sad for her. 

i don't agree with negative takes about selena's acting at all. 

i think she was AMAZING in Emilia Perez and that was a hard role. Anyway...

it's insane actually??? she most of the time feels "fragile" since +/- 2021 and that's make her an easier target online apparently. 

 

it also doesn't help that she talks badly about herself, for example it would've been smarter to say that her character was american than to say she did the best she could with the time she was given. also not great how she talks about her singing talent and stuff. 

eveything about this helps the hate she gets online. it makes people more comfortable hating on her 

 

BUT, THE LEVEL it happens is actually insane and nothing "justify" it.

I saw the movie and I think Selena did well, mainly in the last scenes that made me think she'll do good in a psychological thriller. Bienvenida's vocal performance is good too. 

But her screen time is too short, and the moments that she shines is just like 4 minutes so I don't think she'll get a nom

She literally has an inmune disease that almost cost her her own life, she is on high meds every day, you'all understimate how much of an effort she does daily to keep working. Her acting is not flat at all, her scenes in Emilia Perez were pretty good and even in Wizards you can see she can pull different characters, it just that with OMIT and EP her characters are more "drama"

 

IDK how you all get the victim mentality, I guess the hate train got to you all, but if anything, she is trashing herself every other day and saying she can improve or she did bad, instead of praising her. Even in the reply to that director she is trashing herself and agreeing, which is the opposite of what a victim mentality is.

 

The only thing I can't stand about her is her trashing herself everyother day, she needs her confidence back or she will flop into oblivion.

Because she isn't talented and instead of actually working on something she could become good at (acting and dancing) she self sabotages and then pulls the victim mindset "I'm so bad at everything! Feel sorry for me!" Like enough already. I can't take her seriously anymore because of this pathetic attitude.

i think fans overreact a little bit, it's annoying how she talks about herself there's no doubts about it, it annoys everyone, but at least she's.... in the movie? 

selena keeps up an active entertainment career even being a billionaire and sick, that's more than 99% of people would do and i'm not kidding. 

with all her money and health issues she could've just not audition at all and we wouldn't even be having this conversation

stop wanting everything perfect... acting on a risky spanish musical trans role, doing a giant press tour is not enough. we want her answers to be confident, perfect, sharp and even sassy. 

for gods sake let it be, it is what it is. 

we have a great movie, i love "mi camino", we've never had SO MANY perfect red carpets, she gave good and yep annoying interviews -- but there are good ones, she's on an acclaimed role, her future HONESTLY looks bright. and on top of that she's talking about life with glow in her eyes again. 

just enjoy the ride and learn a little bit to "ah selena --roll eyes-- but ok" sometimes, it takes like 5 seconds.

I think Selena gave her best on Emilia Pérez. Considering from when she was casted to the promo run, first time I felt she gave the best she could for some project.

But about the spanish thing, for real, Selena should have learned that before releasing Revelation. She said she was learning, but she has that problem where she always gives up on things if they need effort. It happened with her learning playing guitar and the piano too, dancing, and even the vocal lessons. About dancing, I know it can hurt with arthritis at first but the habit help improve joint and muscle pain besides being great for stress relief. And she can afford hire a spanish teacher to go to her house everyday for a few hours and she will be speaking faster than she realize

ik i went too hard on her whenever she talks about music, but i got some kind of realization and damn, i understand her.

 

like, imagine this. she releasing revival, and getting snubbed from vmas, amas, bmas...maybe it was too early for a grammy, but revival did make som kind of impact. then droplets era, HUGE numbers (wolves, it aint me) and talent and visuals (bad liar, fetish) and not even a collab grammy nom, or best videos...then she tried again with LYTLM, her biggest song and one of the biggests of 2019 and then...completely snubbed from grammy. i dare to say that late 2019-2020 were boring years from music so..i was shocked when rare didnt get a nomination..

 

and then she tries again with acting, some show with these old guys and then the movie, and suddenly Emmy, Golden Globes, Critics..everyone praising her. 

 

me being her, would feel completely the same, shes been getting snubbed from everything and its so unfair. and i bet some people are behind this

I generally agree with your points but: 

- the lack of nominations and the amount of snubs is also her team's fault. We all know these awards are very staged and her team wasn't able to get her deserved recognitions (specially during Revival era and droplets era). Her team has always messed up about music.

- her lack of energy (in live promotion) and live performances didn't help. And she's the only one to blame. (I'm not talking about massive promo tour which is something she can't afford anymore but some simple live performances/acoustic or very selected lives like she did for the Coldplay song)
