There were big delays in vinyl production in 2021, so that might be why the songs were in (near) finished form in early 2021. I'd prefer they go back to the old way where you could claim vinyl orders as sales. Far less time for leaks and far less time waiting for the (non-vinyl) album. She also needs to do more Hi-Q digital downloads for this release.

I had a similar idea, but it was one album split into distinct chapters. I'm a big fan of the traditional album length of around 40 minutes, but record labels want a lot of tracks so they can get a lot of streams in release week and the album goes #1, so perhaps the idea of an album split into separate chapters would work. You could listen to them as separate albums if you want to.

 

But I'd prefer 2x 40 minute albums for L4 and L5 if her record label supports the idea.

That's why I think the email newsletter from September of last year was her acknowledging a major turning point that maybe also involved scrapping work. She was at her lowest...

I'm not sure when she went back to the US in early 2024, but she usually stays in New Zealand for a couple of months at least, unless she has to return for award shows or touring commitments.

I'm sure it's just a matter of time before some internet sleuth tells us what model of Toyota she is driving. My guess is given how she likes to keep a low profile, probably one of the most common models, a Corolla or something like that, and certainly not the current model year.

People on Reddit said it's a Toyota Land Cruiser, around 2004-2005 model.

Genuinely think it is close to finished, but that doesn't account for photoshoots, music video filming, new music promo interviews, etc.. Doesn't she always go home around this time for the holidays/NZ summer? People were speculating last year or the year before that she normally does not stay in NYC later into December unless she was finishing music (look where that got us ). My guess is that the album is basically done, but everything that follows still needs to happen. So, maybe an extended break at home for a month or two, and then covertly returning to the states for final details. Assuming that is true, we'd be lucky to get something in late March, early April. 

Also, I'm revoking my theory about a more prolific quantity of music on the horizon. We're on track for the same 4 year schedule at this point, and the "stamina" we were supposedly building for the era must be acclimating to her normal process of making music again. Adjusting expectations for a 9-10 track album (no bonus tracks or remixes) to be released maybeee by the 4 year anniversary of SP.

Hmm... I might have been one of those people.

 

But in my defence I'll say that was before we knew that she had purchased an apartment in West Village.

 

It appears she owns, or part owns at least three houses now.

 

She has a villa in Ponsonby, Auckland which she purchased for NZD $2.84 million in 2015 or 2016, her two-bedroom apartment in West Village which she purchased for USD $3.4 million in 2021, and together with her family she appears to have purchased an NZD $1.63 million beach house on Great Barrier Island in 2021.

 

Before you all start singing "Jet planes, islands, tigers on a gold leash", she doesn't own the island which is quite a large island and no one arrives in a jet plane. You can only get there by boat or using a propeller driven aircraft, which appears to explain this photo.
