It's wild because even though some of her peers have had hits beyond the 10-year-mark, they're not signature hits in the vein that ARUTW and Shallow have become for Gaga. Texas Hold 'Em and Fortnight don't hold a candle to the commercial performances of Crazy in Love and Shake It Off for example (though to Taylor's credit, I think Anti-Hero was pretty big).

 

Gaga in contrast is securing SIGNATURE hits well beyond her first peak. DWAS is still new but it feels like it's going to be a huge entry in her discography when all is said and done.

DWAS is yet another proof that if your song clicks with the general public, a very minimal amount of promo is needed for the song to be a smash.

Part of me thinks the bare minimum is because Gaga's era is truly coming.

Taylor does have Cruel Summer and Anti-Hero was huge (though Shallow, ARUTW, and Anti-Hero are all doing similar Spotify numbers these days) but the fact that Gaga's the only other one getting career-defining smashes 10 and 16 years in respectively really says it all. And that's not to mention the critically acclaimed and commercially successful acting career either

Interscope better have a plan in motion to give it the #1 next week or the week after before moving onto LG7. In no world does this mega smash deserve to only peak at #3 being blocked by Taste

I don't think you guys realize how slow radio is these days. It's not just like this with DWAS, it's with the entire pop format. It's pretty stagnant, it takes forever for songs to get big and it takes even longer for songs to die
