All the jokes and messiness aside, yeah I'm not willing to start writing obituaries just yet. Too soon. Airplay is increasing, and now sales/AM are getting a good boost because of the film release as well. So, that's promising. Besides, the song and the album are both under Interscope and Paramount would def want their film, one of the biggest films of the year, to have an accompanying hit OST. As much as it sucks to see it not have optimal playlisting exposure the week of the film release, maybe there is already a streaming push planned a couple weeks later when airplay/sales have increased enough and it grows organically to aim for a high peak when the charts are less crowded, who knows? And it's not like the film is going to leave theatres next week because of poor legs 

 

I want to stay optimistic and not jump to conclusions because there is clearly a lot of potential here that is hopefully not squandered

If the song is meant to be a hit, it will become a hit naturally. The biggest promo the song will receive is from the movie. The song will be heard by millions of people and they will decide if they want to stream or buy it. 
Aggressive playlisting does not make a hit. If people like the song, they will stream it. It is as simple as that
