i aint waiting untill 2026 for new music, tired a*ss b*tch. The hell is she thinking.

Her team is scared of her flopping. A massive flop album can kill a career

Let’s be honest here, for Gaga to be successful with new music in 2023 (and beyond) she needs a massive campaign. A standalone single would flop into oblivion.

Fans beg her for new music and then immediately turn on her if it underperforms, why would she want to release new music for them when she can live off royalties from her hits filled discography? Besides, the music industry is a disaster, it is smart for her to focus on other industries and only release new music to win awards and go on tour

Girl she can release a Lotus sized bomb (will never happen) and her career will be fine :rip: It's not like she's a newly signed girl about to drop her sophomore album

It is very obvious her team does not care about flopping since they know her career is not reliant on a hit.

There's no way some of you genuinely believe that she hasn't written a single new song in the last THREE years :rip:

The only thing obvious enough IMO, both as a result of passage of time and a surface-level observation of her career at this stage in her life, is that we're in the middle of experiencing longer wait times between her music eras from here on out. There's a noticeable change in her pace of releasing albums now that she's 15+ years into her career and music isn't her sole priority anymore.

That said, we also still have to keep in mind that she's a songwriter first and foremost, something that she has always prided herself in since the very beginning. She's always writing new songs and coming up with new melodies, scribbling in a notepad, recording on her phone, playing a chord idea on her piano etc. She's also a really skilled multi-tasker and can effectively manage doing multiple things at once. But even if you take that out of the equation, she has still had multiple, sometimes months-long gaps between all her different projects since.

We also have excerpts from different interviews (going back as much as early 2021) that vaguely hint at her being in some sort of a transitional phase:

So... yeah. I just don't think she's waiting until 2025/26 to put out a new album. That's too long a wait and there's still almost a year before the JFAD promo campaign rollout begins. It's possible, sure, but I'm not buying it just yet. :swan:

This is a great post. I do not know why Gaga fans think she can not be both a songwriter and an actress? One does not have to be more important than another.

I'm not saying this as shade toward our queen because they're underappreciated and great musical works but if ARTPOP and Joanne back-to-back didn't kill her career, nothing will.

ARTPOP, a critically-panned media target and the public's sharp turn against Gaga, and then Joanne, a dead-on-arrival campaign launch that was largely saved by a Superbowl performance. Back to back. This would have killed anyone's career but Gaga survived it because she built her long-term legacy on raw talent, artistic excellence, and multi-genre versatility.

Floppage or not, Gaga has given the public so many reasons (from musical versatility to acting) to keep checking her out. At this point the only thing that could actually kill her career is something extreme like being exposed as a MAGA anti-vaxxer or something.

I'm sure Bobby and team are always thinking about how to best prepare music eras for success but I doubt they're THAT concerned about her flopping given how little they (or Gaga) cared about Bloody Mary smashing for months. It's also not like she's not on solid footing. Chromatica may have been hampered by covid but commercially it did on par for an average pop release and was considerably better than her prior two studio eras.

As much as I doubt anything will be coming soon. I really hope she's working on an album. The chromatica music had really great songs but with covid we really didn't get a full blown era

this is such a stupid take :skull: music flops because fans and gp don't care for it not the other way around

he means that her career as a relevant artist would be over, like being on par with beyonce taylor etc. Another flop album will move her into legacy artist category

Then support?

Jeff had worked with Kanye (esp on MBDTF) so much and even on this song which I would love as a style for Gaga:

Please make it happen.

The Chromatica Ball is really never happening, huh? Not even an Instagram story mentioning the album for its anniversary. 💀

The Super Bowl performance was Joanne’s campaign. The whole album’s creation and promotion revolved around that performance. Gaga mentioned that she let the Super Bowl executives listen to Joanne before it officially came out. It is unlikely Gaga would have made an album like that at that time if she didn’t have that performance slot.
It was all apart of her good will campaign to rebrand herself.

Her career transformation between 2014-2017 is incredible and should be studied by the music industry

But to my point, to stay as relevant as she is now, she needs a massive campaign for her album roll outs, like the Super Bowl. Chromatica’s success relied on working with popular streaming artists and heavy playlisting. It also did benefit from coming out after ASIB even though some people don’t agree with that.
LG7’s campaign needs to be fully planned out and needs to be put out at the right time for her to stay a relevant mainstream artist in the music industry. Waiting til after JFAD would guarantee a moderate hit album. Flopping right before JFAD would be a risky move

Heard a rumor Max will announce The Chromatica Ball Film on June 1st as the only Corporate Pride content they'll release this year.

Okay so I’ve talked with someone who’d know this kind of stuff and apparently her team’s been messaging back and forth with Jeff Bhasker about an apparent studio session supposedly happening in June/July. This doesn’t mean something is coming soon but yea felt like sharing because it’s pretty dry in this base so that might bring some hope to the fanbase when it comes to new music. I wouldn’t expect anything earlier than 2024 but you never know. :coffee2:

Yea the person who told me this would definitely know so I don’t doubt it at all but I didn’t really get the clear answer on what exactly they’ll be working on. Saw some people on Twitter saying they’re finalising LG7 which is not true. We’ll see I guess

Yes but Chromatica wasn't on par with Taylor's recent albums either so :michael:Obviously having a hit and an album scrapping platinum will always matter since she's a major artist and signed to one of the biggest labels, but she's also really past the phase of chasing hits in her career imo. Another smash hit is always welcome but the main focus should be releasing strong albums that reinvent the wheel, push boundaries, and push her sound/artistry forward. Now that is a great way to build a legacy. This combined with some tours every few years and innovative visuals/production are truly what matters in the long term.

This ofc doesn't negate the fact that her team should still plan great campaigns to market the music.
