Not sure why you're making this comparison since 'Ain't worried' wasn't presented and launched as the main single from the soundtrack, I don't think they were expecting it to smash since OneRepublic have been a flop for more than a decade, it made sense it was launched initially in that way in that case.

When it comes to Gaga giving the artist caliber and her coming from the last biggest soundtrack song, any other label would have invested over it at least at the beginning, HMH should have launched like 'Lift me Up' was, whereas they just released it without any strong push during mid week for no reason, which means that also in that case they weren't chasing a hit at all costs and see if the song could have done it alone.

This can be applied to other scenarios, during the 'Chromatica' era (releasing a 2 months leaked song as first single, ecc), during the ASIB they could have pushed ARUTW as single, all these choices prove that imo they simply don't care to chase a hit every cost, if it happens naturally like with 'Shallow' good otherwise they're not going to push any further.

I agree with this, but I also think that with Shallow and HMH, their main focus was the Oscar, not a hit. Pushing ARUTW, which would've been a big hit, would've possibly overshadowed or pulled some attention away from 'Shallow' and they didn't want that.

the - bullet can also mean the spins/audience adjustment.

BM’s spins were at bigger rate than its audience.

anyway, We need a Bloody Mary EP with sped up version, a new remix for clubs and acapella and instrumental and maybe even some more. I think interscope can do it, it takes like 0 effort to do smth like that. SZA did it for Kill Bill and now Beyonce did it for Cuff It and its actually looking really cool. They can use an outtake from Born This Way era for the cover to have her fans’ attention.

What are they waiting for? Maybe higher radio audience? i have no idea but lets see.

Y'all gotta let it go, sis. :jonny:

iMO stans over-blame labels for how audience respond to songs. It’s part of the culture. There’s other factors. Remember Harry and bad bunny were releasing that month. OSTS never get the same push of a single. The song itself, its intro that could factor into curation.   I can definitely see things interscope can do better, but I don’t think it’s straight forward and I see a lot of good they’ve done too.

I'm making the comparison because they were both from the same film and from the same OST - they only come out a week apart. I’ll explain there:

  Reveal hidden contents

HMH was initially supposed to come out in 2020 on top of ROM/Chromatica, I believe its quality and its initial launch reflect that. LMU was rihanna's comeback song after 6 years, but i do agree HMH would've gotten better peaks at least with a TTH cover and top 3 placement. OSTs largely don't receive the same attention or push as singles. HMH it earned a spot later on on TTH cause of its stability, (which makes me think that was their goal) When its response to being put on TTH is poor (which happens a lot of times with ballads). Stans then said 'well its not on the playlist high enough' - that doesn't make a hit a hit. Once a song is on a playlist, if it does well curators will move it up - that's not a labels fault. I don't think HMH would've beeen a smash just cuase it was on TTH top 3, but it'd have got way better peaks

All of this :cm::cm::cm:

Sure, they could've pushed it as some huge lead single, but nothing would've saved the fact that audiences simply shrugged the song off. Even LMU, a blockbuster OST droplet that was pushed as a huge comeback single, dropped like a rock despite a great peak and insane promo. It all comes down to the song's quality, and HMH clearly didn't impress a lot of people.

Y’all giving up too fast lmaoo, i really think its why her singles always end up extremly frontloaded. Beyonce fans bought 80k copies of her song this week that is dying on the radio :rip: You guys are truly giving dua lipa energy.

And today she's an Academy Award, 2x BAFTA, 2x SAG BA nominee, NBR, NYFCC, CC, GG BA winner and filming next year's most anticipated movie :jonny::gaygacat4:

If you think about it, Robert Rodriguez was actually that OG 1 person out of 100 who believed in her

I never even thought this song would chart cause many OST ballads come and go like the weeknd's song. Hand was a huge waste imo cause its too oscar fodder and not what she has been capable of with ballads - and lord knows I stan her ballads (and Hand i listen to everyday)

I also dont think the movie studio liked the two songs from what an 'insider' said. That could've contributed to the decision to not have either song in trailers and their launc cc @Leptine

But:
ultimately the rollout they went for would've helped the song had it clicked with GP - not with peaks (but who cares about that) but with longevity. IAW was pushed by the film, then tiktok, then added to radio and grew in playlisting this all made it have huge longevity. Like dua's DSN.

You might also be right with your points however mine didn't want to be the usual label blame, but a sort of reading those decisions in a different way, meaning that Gaga is in a point of her career in which she's not desperate to have a hit at all costs, but her main focus it's keep establishing herself as prestige performing artist in both music and cinema fields, that's the bigger picture, she's in a stage of her career in which she has nothing to prove charts wise.

i wonder what the OG OGH angela cheng is up to nowadays

Actually ARUTW started to gain traction at the beginning of Summer 2019, when awards season was over and 'Shallow' did its run post Oscar, that was the period several users wanted it to be pushed as single but also many thought they didn't do it because the new lead single would have dropped in that period as well (thing that didn't happen at the end).

Anyone remember what happened to biggest anti LG site back in 2010~2011? I don't remember the site name but they were hilarious

You can find out easily since it was for sure Perez Hilton behind that profile.

you always make good sis points and give me a good discussion :alexz3:  I was just getting some thoughts out. I do have faith in them for LG7 first single rollout

And yes they dont care about the week-to-week things stans care about, it can be incredibly frustrating. There was no reason Chroma couldn't get antoher week top 10, and they could do an EP with a speed up. 911 being mislabelled was unforgiveable, but in others way they tried to push the song but not call it a 'single' to not make her look a flop - which was clever. They care about her image, rather than the finer details.

Exactly, all the work she had sone since C2C goes in that direction, bulding a prestige-legend status.

As for LG7, they need to make the right decision with the first single which is the biggest hurdle, despite imagine what genre she's gonna do is always the main topic of discussion of this base, if I really think about it, I really don't know what to expect and which direction she's gonna take at the end, truly a big question mark.

I forgot Shallow only spent 6 weeks in total in the top 10 and varied at different times like the Oscar performance. She needs to have radio on her side as that was why Rain On Me and Stupid Love were kind of front loaded. She’s not like Ariana or Miley or Katy where anything she releases will get eaten up by radio. Positions is a trash song but a massive smash because of Ariana’s name alone

Katy hasn't been a thing on radio since her Dr Luke days a decade ago and Miley was radio poison for a decade as well :toofunny3:
Get outta here with that BS!
