It has the MAKINGS of a hit, but Gaga and her team need to hustle to make it so. We already saw with the Grammy commercial thing that she is prone to promo, so they should take the hint and play the game. Physicals, playlisting, payola, tiktoks, performances, active social media presence in general. But that won't happen so I'm just hoping for some stability and a slow fall and not a complete crash.

A 81 nn  But yeah, I really hope it's more critically acclaimed than Chromatica. The singles have been well received so far, but I have a feeling some critics are gonna try iT with the "going back to my early sound"' narrative to try and make it sound like a retread. And there's the fact that the album is apparently "genre bending and chaotic" and some of them don't like that.

It's just that ever since I became a stan who pays attention to these things, circa 2015, I have never seen any Gaga dance song be met with the amount of adoration that this track has. I guess I'm biased because I think it's my favourite song she has released in that period of time as well but, if this doesn't end up becoming a cute hit, I honestly don't know if any gaga dance pop song will ever upon launch - unless something goes unexpectedly viral a la Bloody Mary.

Never say never, I know, but the song is THAT good for me.

1. I wouldn't be here on the base if I wanted her to flop
2. Being a hit is not about which song has the biggest debut, DWAS for example had a good debut but the increasing streams over time are what made it a huge success… Abracadabra has not a popular sound and Gaga will probably let it die like Disease. I'd like to be proven wrong tho

the fact that Mayhem won a grammy bc of Track #1 DWAS and the album is not even out whew her mind.

They're going hard with the AM playlisting. 

 

Just added to New In Pop at #1, and she's on a bunch of new playlists like Office DJ, Family Dance Party , Happy Hits, and Alpha.

As if artists have any real control over hit songs in 2025. It's all about TikTok and playlisting, both of which Gaga pushed with Disease.

 

Like she even said herself, sometimes things just don't connect. 

Hopefully Spotify playlisting pulls through, but I know they tend to only update certain days

I'm a monster since 2009 and I share the same impression. This level of positive response to one of her songs upon release is unprecedented in the last 10 years.

Disease had a great potential to be a hit in my opinion but the timing and the lack of promo really ruined the momentum. All she did was filming tiktoks at home. Like girl. The gp didn't even know the song was out, yet look at this: The Grammy premiere really gave Abracadabra a good exposure and the song is getting its deserved flowers. So yeah an artist doesn't have control over what song becomes a hit, but she can definitely work more to give it a chance at becoming one.

Yeah it's so exhilerating to be a part of this to be honest. For a long time my favourite Gaga tracks were stuff I didn't experience upon launch. Like there are plenty of cuts I love in Joanne and Chromatica but this song just blows everything she's released since 2015 out of the water. Like if someone said this is the best track on Mayhem I'd still be open to the possibility of this album matching BTW/TFM for me.
