MTE we need a well thought out album rollout. Last 2 album cycles she got away with it bc COVID and good music.

I think we failed to remember the fact that Pop radio was always Doja's airplay strongsuit between that, Rhythmic and Urban so if she comes through with a non-Pop friendly single, I think the expectation to match her previous success just won't be realistic.

 

That is, unless it becomes a smash in its own and pop radio has to pick it up. It'll be interesting to see how RCA deals with this era tbh

For me Doja Cat is like mix of the 3 members of TLC. Although there's clearly some Left Eye in her, I can also see a bit of Chili and T-Boz in her looks and style.

Absolutely on point 

Her look on the Get Into It (Yuh) video is SO reminiscence of T-Boz look on No Scrubs. It almost felt like a tribute.

 

As a matter of fact, No Scrubs, Waterfalls, Unpretty... are songs that I could imagine Doja singing. It's like the perfect balance between rap, pop and RnB.

Super random but she is in talks to be headlining Wireless Fest in the UK next year - they usually do this poll every year and the set headliners are usually listed

OT: I wonder when she's dropping, I was thinking 6/9 knowing her but she's still showing no signs of life so idk anymore

i was talking with a fellow kitten about this and I just hope she's doing okay just in general.

I have this underlying feeling that Doja does not enjoy or care about music anymore. Either she doesn't care about being a big artist anymore or she genuinely hates interacting with her fans. Looking over the fact she's not been on a single tour of her own since 2019 Amala era and all of her recent performances have been some afterparty performances where real fans don't even have the opportunity to attend. (I can't blame her for not enjoying performing to a bunch of influencers in a club who will talk over you while you're on stage.) it's like the stuff she used to enjoy doing she doesn't like doing anymore. like making music for starters, going on live doing her makeup, performing, etc. It's that or maybe impostor syndrome beating her down, like she can create the best body of work known to music and still not feel like it's enough. idk.

 

It's frustrating because she's one of the best artists ever. she's insanely talented in most aspects that artists these days aren't she just needs to learn to deal with it. Therapy, journal, other outlets because putting it online will only make it turn against her (i.e. the burnout tweets) and I pray that she has a good support system. Being surrounded by a bunch of yes men and fools who actually think everything they do for her career is right is not gonna work out forever.

She's certanly going through to something related to how she feels about her career hence why the recent things that happened where she was just shitting on every single thing. I feel like after blowing up she got overworked and that must have been terrible for her. Didn't she say she would go live in an island if she could? It's very unfortunate how the music industry treat these girls, and I'm sure they're all very sexualized behind the scenes which could make just everything worse. And there's the fact that she basically ****** up her throat last year and is yet still smoking a lot. I also hope she has a good support system but I simply don't believe she does. :( I don't think she's actually okay and we'll get further proof once the new era starts
