I was looking at Bey's Spotify streams the other day, the biggest shock was TEXAS HOLD EM only doing 250K daily, that song was everywhere last year!

Y'all didn't tell me that my house has a whole dance trend that popped off a last month with 68,000 videos. Jealous could neva! I'm apart of beyoncetok but I'm always late to her trends. I discovered it by accident.

After Act 3 it's a wrap I fear. I've come to realize that not only is she a polarizing celebrity but her modern music is very polarizing to the point where it's a trending topic across all forms of media. Naturally people who don't listen to her music will give it a stream to hear what all the hoopla about.
 

This song in particular did better than her former singles in the streaming era because it was a TikTok hit + basically every song got removed from TikTok for a couple weeks, and Texas survived the purge. Which is why everyone used the sound and exaggerated the songs popularity. Which is why the top videos under the sound at the time were a bunch of people complaining about the song being overplayed.

I don't think "it's a wrap". She loves making music and will continue releasing for at least the next 15 yrs. Maybe not to the same extent or frequency.

This was a tough week with so many attacking her appearance. I hope she wasn't affected by any of it

Commercially, you are right in that the way moves, it just isn't build for the streaming/social media era. 

Like you said, she is still quite successful at stirring the pot, at creating conversations and hype when a new release is upon us, but anything that would prolong the era, anything that would prolong interest in the music, she ACTIVELY refuses to do. She refuses to do interviews, to perform, to show up, etc.. It's her prerogative, but her numbers will always look quite bad (especially compared to her actual potential). Seeing a Katy Perry ahead of her is only just beneath her, but it's whatever since she clearly does not care one bit. It's not like she doesn't have the resources. It's an active choice.

Im interested to see how she rolls out Act3, because at this point in time, she's giving me MAJOR auntie vibes.

By it's a wrap I meant her days of debuting #1 may be over. The genre hopping gains public interest at first but the streams don't sustain after debut week. After taking on rock n roll I don't see billboard success in her future. She's run out of gimmicks + she will be pushing 50 by the time her post-trilogy project drops.

Beyoncé has made it crystal clear over the last decade she does not care about streaming numbers and refuses to play by those rules. She comes from the golden era of physical sales so none of this streaming sh*t phases her. She'd rather make her statements with her musical art, tour it, drop some merch and go on about her day. 

 

And I honestly don't blame her.

 

Streaming is trash and so is the Billboard formula tied to it.

You could argue she's not a regular popstar now already. She left the popstar formular years ago.

This is one of the biggest issues with the whole trilogy era. So much of her merch and tour production is clearly based on moments or images from the absent visuals that we haven't yet seen. If we had seen the AHAP music video where she's a news anchor before she recreated the video for the renaissance tour, we would feel excited and understand what she was going for with the stage set-up. Instead, we have to work out independently that her decision to dress up as a bee and host a news channel while singing an 80s dance song is a reference to those visuals. It asks of her fans a level of mental gymnastics that makes it all feel less fun.
