some thoughts on the setlist (the only problem I have with this tour)

  • she is repeating too much from RWT, especially since she has hundreds of iconic hits and deep cuts from ages ago that people would die to hear
  • she has to let go of BILG. it was cute on the last tour but it doesn't have to stay
  • WDYLM and Bills Bills Bills were some of the best moments, because we haven't heard them for so long and now they're back (BBB should've been actually performed)
  • I also think that SL should've been back, it would sound fresh cause we're not used to it anymore
  • the point of Been Country site was to prove that the country has been there all along, but she didn't try to show that by including her country-leaning songs
  • there's no reason Irreplaceable shouldn't be included
  • All NIght is begging to be performed
  • not including Suga Mama is vile, but I can forgive her for including WDYLM instead
  • the order in the AHAP section was a bit weird for me and it feels like the same Diva/Formation section she has on every tour

however, I think she will improve on everything. she always does. however, I hope she starts changing her setlists in the future. she has a rich discography, but she performs the same songs over and over again when she can switch them up every now and then

Thank you I thought I was missing something! Now I caught a glimpse of them in a video but damn they are tucked away :lmao:

All of this!

I'll only add that something is a lil off about that slowed down CIL. It's either the mix or the choreo execution or both. It just doesn't quite work yet (as good as it could). Same with whatever happens at the end of Heated. When deviating from the original track, the mix doesn't totally align with how it's performed.

I hope they find a way to fix /  smooth over because it's probably one of the strongest sections of the overall show in terms of back to back bops and being the show's clear crescendo.

The amount of highlights is honestly insane. The interludes and visuals, the WDYLM and yaya mashup, thique going from worst performance to show highlight :deadbanana4:daddy lessons and the bridge being performed, cuff it live finally becoming enjoyable, the best RWT segment being back, the visuals and interludes, the stage and props, the whole ahap/my house/spaghetti part, SHB, haunted finally making a quick appearance. And I'm probably missing a LOT. also Riverdance was messy but I kinda loved it. Minus the uneventful croc tears/just for fans segment (which i weirdly did like, it was just too many slow songs back to back, she could thrown a more known deep cut in there) the pacing of the show feels much better than Ren's.

The less great parts would still be the lack of big hits. the heated and crazy in love remixes are honestly a mess and kinda hard to get through :rip:

Texas was just as anticlimactic as it was at the Beybowl. As I predicted, 2H2H is the new VG aka the best song but translates badly live. 16C is kinda awkward in the car and Amen feels like not enough to end such a huge show, she should've done a halo mashup to give that satisfying closing factor for the locals (yes it's played out but it's always effective as a closer, it sends people home satisfied. even if it's not halo, there's better encores than the least streamed track off a new album :rip:)

I kinda agree with the sentiment regarding  the set list because I too complained. With that being said, I think it's vital for her to keep the entire rennie section. There's a reason why run the world that flopped initially is now one of her signature songs. She shoved it down our throats despite the  commercial performance. We're going to need some of the songs from rennie to have the same effect

her moving more for just for fans than for virgo's groove should get her a trial at The Hague :bloo:

We are in a 3-act project so I'm not surprised at all that she performed some songs from Renaissance. It would've been odd if she didn't imo

Spill because JFF might be her most useless song post IASF  :sorry:  She has bad taste wbk

Basically watched the entire show again through random clips. I think it's her best opening shows honestly, probably ever (at least the opening shows that I do remember). It's a bit of trial and error sometimes, but that's fine.

  • The whole 'Jolene's' act or whatever it's called is probably the ultimate highlight for me. Bodyguard basically going into Cuff It (disregarding the bits of II Most Wanted) is GENIUS and her flying to the B stage to perform it there, GENIUS.
  • I love that Daughter get its own section, basically. Really helps to build the dramatic vibe that the song needs.
  • The ballads section worked surprisingly well, I believe. Especially Flamenco and Protector (of course because the crowd goes wild with Blue and Rumi).
  • I love that she is doing the best part of RWT in a reworked way. I think people underestimate how many people missed out on RWT in the cities she's going to with this tour (these were the highest-demand cities, especially MANY in Europe missed out), so they get to experience it.
  • So here comes the act I'm critical about (it's for sure not bad), but it's the Texas Hold 'Em/Crazy In Love/Heated/Before I Let Go act. I just don't think it really works with her standing on the truck for THE and Crazy In Love (though the Texas riff ate so bad again vocally). Heated is definitely the weakest Renaissance performance in this show for me. Before I Let Go is cute and crowd pleaser, but I wouldn't mind it being swapped.
  • 16 Carriages in the car I think is really good, give people in the 100s and 200s what they paid for. Amen as encore is essential to the shows's storyline, but I do get the criticism, just don't think she could change anything really. Interpolating it with Halo, for example, would mess with the sociopolitical commentary that the Amen encore really is, imo.
  • Wouldn't change anything about the first act, besides her coming up to the stage with the lift rather than walking on. Otherwise, no notes.
  • Spaghetti live eats omg. That act I really liked energy-wise, but I think the sequence can feel a bit awkward sometimes.
  • VISUALS ATE. INTERLUDES ATE. PRODUCTION ATE.

That was my Ted talk.

Just For Fun, and all the ballads for that matter, also working better live than Virgo's Groove (arguably her best song ever) shook me.

yeah i honestly expected that segment to be more uneventful than it was, it was really cute !

but if she has to scrap something it better be the AT/JFF/Protector part and she better not touch anything renaissance related :biblio:

She better not scrap the ballads I need to hear them when she comes to Paris.

The buckin segment was really amazing. She danced hardddddd during that wow.

whew

I am going to see her soon but this is my fav tour from her for many reasons.

1. Her vocals are insane. This will

always be no 1 for me. When those vocals aren't there anymore is where I will start to worry. She is a SANGER first and foremost and she just keeps getting better on that.

2. This production is her biggest and most impressive yet.

3. It's her best opening show in a while. She worked her ass off and you can tell (something I wonder if hive really appreciates)

4. Hive were in tears complaining about RWT opening show. Talking about too many ballads and her not dancing ( a lot of revisionist history going on). The opening show was great and it will only get better from there.

5. The Renee medley was necessary because she is telling a story with the acts. It's all within a multiverse and all are connected. That's vision and it's beautiful. When she tours for act 3..she will include segments for CC and Renee as well as act 3. That's what she is doing

I am proud of her. She truly gives everything her all and works harder than anyone. I hope she knows true hive love and appreciate it despite all the constant negativity that gets thrown her away.

What a superstar 🥹

I can't help but to think the show needs to be experienced in theaters after the concert.

Of course I will get my life in Paris but after I need a show in theaters (without cuts in between where she shows her life, just a non-stop show) where I can really take in all the interludes and how they work with the songs.

For example that part where she shows on the screen all the major outlets of America talking about Beyoncé being a problem. And then she follow sith America Has A Problem which says the same thing was a genius move.

The Loop The Sample part plus Renaissance is so much more vibrant in gold.

I want to see all thatin theaters.

A lot.

The feedback is much more positive this time around than Renaissance.

I remember when people thought she would at least change the ballads and rotate them each night. :dies:

i always love thique and her finally singing the good parts is so :jonny5:

and the joke's on her, since it's also the Cécred product placement she can't get rid of it this time, HA !  :ryan3:

We don't talk about the horseshoe moment enough. It's one of my fav parts, especially when she flew over to the B-stage and did cuff it (much better performance than rennie)

Yes, the horseshoe is perfect, I loved the whole vegas theme with it.

While I love the show, personally, I will say, Just for Fun and Alligator Tears, both two of my favorite songs on the album, need a little more.  I wish she performed them as big band numbers, or created a different vocal arrangement.  Alligator Tears could've been a big highlight had it been mashed up with The Chain from Fleetwood Mac, or had she really tore the vocals up, and same with Just For Fun.  I feel like they'll get stronger as she goes on.

I do think the tour is missing a moment like the BMS/Vogue mashup.

Yeah, I didn't see enough talk about Thique. I love the song and the performance was so enjoyable and it even have a bit of the transition, which is my favorite transition in Ren.
