It's a great album but I don't really like Pretty Hurts, and then No Angel, Jealous, Superpower (especially this one) and Heaven don't quite live up to the potential they had in my opinion. But the rest is fantastic and little me was obsessed with the sonic musical direction and the colourful visuals. I also adore Blue which I rarely see praised.

Blue is such a lovely sing and the lil' bossa nova in the instrumental plus the brazilian scenary on the music video makes it one of my fave on that record, a solid top 5 for me

Blue has aged SO well imho. I've recently rediscovered it and honestly it's Top5 on ST

I agree that a few of the lows on Cowboy Carter could be considered filler - even though I don't think so - but the highs are otherworldly in my opinion. The genre-bending / fusions, the sonic palettes, the vocals, the energy etc. are unreal - especially on Ya Ya onwards in my opinion.

 

But I could also see why people prefer self-titled and Lemonade - they're arguably tighter. Cowboy Carter's length both works for it and against it in my opinion.

We gotta call a spade a spade. 4 has some of the most incredible vocals for some of the most mediocre music

It's mainly these two and No Angel that I think could have been better. Heaven and Jealous are gorgeous songs and very good to be fair - I was too mean.

I love the bossa nova element in Blue too and it so matched the video! It's so gorgeous. And I agree it's probably in my self-titled top 5 too.

As somebody who hated Jealous for YEARS and now adores it, it's gonna hit you one day...and you will never be the same

The lyrics aren't the best I agree but it also kinda works in context in my opinion. I've heard some people say the Renaissance lyrics aren't too good either but I love them and I think they work excellently in context.

It's hard to rank Bey albums because she gets better as an artist with every single one.  CC isn't my favorite, but you can't deny the vocals or the musicianship.

 

I'd actually wager we're the only fanbase that isn't constantly pining for our fave to go back to an old sound

Yeah I obviously love the Fela Kuti influence on it and maybe if it was longer with more instrumentation, like a lot of Fela Kuti's songs, I would appreciate it more. I love that Beyoncé is open to orchestras and guitar solos (PYCM, Bodyguard, etc.) and I can't wait to one day have an 8+ minute song from her where she's just letting a band do its thing. We might just get one like it on act iii

 

 

I honestly barely listen to Blow since Renaissance came out. The Disco-inspired songs on Rennie literally blow Blow out of the water to the point where Blow feels empty to me

There is a reason why hive should not do rankings and the last few pages prove that. Just listen to the music like bey said.

Lemonade > B'Day > Renaissance > Beyonce > 4 > Cowboy Carter > I Am > Dangeroulsy In Love

All I know is Renaissance is #1.

 

Put that album on and next thing you know you've listened to the entire thing.  There are very few albums by anyone I can do that with, with the frequency I listen to it.

I think Lemons and Renny perfectly represent the two sides of acclaim an album can have. Lemons is a master class in storytelling and its visual aspect further ties the motifs the album has along with providing historical references to further solidify the symbolism and activism she wanted to tell with the album. 
 

And then you have Renny, which inherently does not have a particular story, her main goal was escapism, letting go, celebrating which the album does phenomenally. It's a blend of different genres and sounds and despite each song having such vastly different sounds and lyrical content, they all manage to transition into one another so that it provides you with a sonic-cinema experience. It's a continued evolution of Bey breaking her own boundaries and elevating herself as an artist.
 

To me, Lemon and Renny are the pinnacle of her art. We shall see with act iii though

 

If I had to choose which album best personally represents Beyonce however, that would be a toss up between ST and 4
