I just know she got this way because she wasn't invited to Oprah's Legends Ball so she's been hell-bent on LeGaCy ever since

then why send the song to radios in the first place ? :rip:

to attach her name to a historic moment....are you being dense on purpose or????

people are hearing the song at rallies and in ads already, it has been playing during the Kamala battleground state tour all month and will absolutely be played at the DNC in a couple weeks. people will hear it on the radio and be like "oh this is for kamala".

If she can send this to radio she could have easily sent another CC song as well.

She doesn't care about promoting her album. She has been radio-silent for months, no pun intended.

She's not sending freedom to radio to promote lemonade. It's to endorse Kamala.

in HER mind a watershed historic moment > a hit single.

i think it's pretty clear with how she was able to quickly push something when she wants that she simply doesn't want to send anymore CC songs. So sure she could send bodyguard but she doesn't want to do that.

all this yapping for a song that doesn't even have a confirmed radio release or an add date...

from what I can tell, it all spread from one tweet who got it from an "insider" on a different forum.

this is all as reliable as the "CHURCH GIRL" radio push that never happened. don't waste your breath keyboard clicks arguing about something that probably won't end up happening. I don't see any reason why she would push this old song to radio when it's not gaining enough momentum. no, it doesn't add to her "legacy" or "historic moment" -- radio has got nothing to do with it. she's already lent her song to the campaign. trying to make the song a "radio hit" would almost take away from its impact on the campaign trail, in my opinion.

And yet, the streams remain at 150k per day. Can it be historic when, quite frankly, no one gives a ****?

Guys can we be for real for a second.

Ya Ya would never have worked for a presidential campaign. It's far too focused lyrically on Beyonce as an individual and is honestly too anti-American. Freedom perfectly balances the metaphors with the refrain and is ultimately optimistic about the state of things.

As the official song of Kamala's race, Freedom will become synonymous with the anti-Trump message. Sure, it won't go number 1, but pushing it onto American radio will see the song basically act as an advert for Kamala. Everytime people hear it, they'll think of her, and she'll become inseparable from the message of the song...freedom.

It's not a waste of time to push the song to radio if you're effectively campaigning for Kamala whenever it gets played. This is bigger than CC. This is about western democracy lol.

They absolutely were sending Church Girl to radio though, it was listed on All Access :lmao:

Kinda convinced the only reason Parkwood changed their mind is because all corners of the hive dragged her to hell and back once it leaked / because Cuff It was organically shooting up to the Top 10

I'm still so confused about it, because Cuff It was already moving when All Access listed a radio release date for Church Girl, like it was a surprise at all :lmao:  I really do think the fan base had something to do with it, all of the outrage had to have had some impact lol

Not to mention, it isn't 2006, Church Girl wasn't going to go anywhere

It's literally everything!

It's explosive from the get-go and yet still builds into this epic blissful crescendo.

I live for an "I'm back" bop too and BMS defines that.

Random but relevant: it's yet another textbook example of how stan culture can be so fickle and ridiculous. The girls gagged initially. Yes, some recoiled at how "on the nose" Dance/uplifting it was, but the general consensus was great. Then the album came along and with nothing being "as" left of her genre playground as BMS, all of a sudden it was "BMS=meh".

I also think that with Bey no longer doing the 'single 1, single 2, album release' rollout, there's a natural gravitation to the sensory overload of "new" that is the rest of the album's songs. So, IMO, many parked BMS on the side the second Rennie arrived. Of course, everyone is entitled to like what they like, but I always chuckle at the flip-flopness in stan-land. Not just with Bey, but in general.

Nothing about YA YA is anti-American, she literally says 'we gotta keep the faith' while saying 'VOTE' at the end. The song is more so about how America has treated Black people while paying homage to those before her who help advanced the movement through music such as Aretha, Stevie and the other artists from the chitlin circuit. it actually would've been better. But imo, all it shows is how out of touch with today's society Kamala's Team is.

All Access has not always been 100% reliable. They could have seen "Church Girl" playlisted on Spotify and said "this must be the next single." If I recall correctly the alleged "impact date" kept moving until it was removed from the "coming soon" section. There is no way to confirm that was Parkwood's doing, lol.

All Access also went out of business and got bought out last year. :dies: They're clearly not doing great.

The GP, particular non-Beyonce fans, are not dissecting lyrics though. The last thing a presidential candidate wants to do is have to explain a campaign song and why they chose it. Freedom is straight forward. There's no reason to muddy the waters when you don't have to.

streams are not the end all be all of cultural significance, which is beyoncé's priority post 2013

freedom is a much more optimistic song than ya ya. "whole lotta red in that white and blue" (a lyric about the blood of Black bodies being the foundation of the country) is not exactly a lyric a presidential hopeful trying to appeal to wide audiences is going to use. its quite radical coming from her. freedom is neutral in comparison. its about fighting for what's right, while ya ya is a critique of america through a Black lens. she's already got the Black community's vote, she's not going to use a song that will alienate moderates. this is politics not pop music.
