Y’all saying it’s not shade, but it was obviously said to create discourse. Yall know how locals will read it. She’s using this underdog, passive aggressive approach to sway public opinion. She knows she can’t stand toe-to-toe with Bey and the comparison DO bother her. So instead of being outright shady, she was clever enough to plant a seed and let the GP do her dirty work. We already hear how Beyoncé is a nepo baby and has everything handed to her. She shouldn’t have mentioned her period, because like always Beyoncé will end up being dragged or mocked and if we defend her we’ll be gas-lit to hell and back.

I agree. I don't think at face value it is a diss (as even Nicki is not delusional enough to see the differences between them are not from upbringing), but my current thoughts on Nicki as an insecure agent of chaos remain.

 

If you didn't want to be misunderstood on such a sensitive internet topic, why include her name? Unless (A) you want to continue connecting your brand to hers (like that "you are the visuals" spin Nicki workshopped a few days ago), (B) the attention/internet buzz is the only reason her name was included, or (C) The Carters showing love to Cardi, Meg, and Doja is becoming too much to handle.

 

Nicki keeps releasing mediocre songs on value-engineered beats, and can never just let the music speak for itself these days. She always needs doctored controversy for that little extra boost. Must be exhausting to see the same people you continue to release bad energy towards thrive.
