A few of the Lemonade performances, sure, but outside of that I don't see many similarities. The theming, the costume designs, the setlist are all very different. 
 

The last two acts especially are very unique to that show, and those are my absolute favorite (along with the second act, the one with Mine).

yeah mte. I don't think it'd look cute to have 2 films for 2 "different" concerts when they're most exactly the same 

 

That's also why we got a OTR film but not a Mrs. Carter Show one

Recently there was a thread about Lemonade and the OP asked to post our top 5 songs from LEMONADE, and Love Drought was included in almost every ranking. It deserves all the love 

Yeah, Love Drought is the definition of a GROWER. For years I was All Night Hive and detested Love Drought, now I can't even remember the last time I played All Night willingly  While Love Drought is one of my fave Bey songs.

the last act of the tour with the water she did at the BET awards. the crazy in love from the second to last act was done at made in america with the wood boxes. the mine/baby boy/standing on the sun/hold up/countdown mashup from the second act was done at homecoming too as was me myself & i. the only thing i could argue from FWT that wasn't utilized elsewhere was the daddy lessons moment, but she gave us the CMT performance. all of these are likely why she kept the FWT in the vault.

I'm not saying it's impossible they'll come out, but it's not crazy people think the visuals aren't coming. The signs are all there. 

I really appreciate both of these takes because they basically speak to both sides of my stance on the status of the visuals. 

 

Stripping away all emotion and disappointment about the lack of visuals to date (which is 98% of the discourse around them from most), two things are apparent:

 

* The literal data/history we have supports the reality that Bey doesn't "scrap" things. Her release dates stick, her releases aren't "messy" (conventionally speaking) and she delivers on her word. She's very fiscally minded, so I'd lean more towards her pumping more $$$ into making the visuals of life (and recouping by selling it to a streamer) than losing $$$ on something that never sees the light of day.

 

BUT...

 

* She's been really verbatim about being in a new season of life. One that is less work, more freedom. Plus, there's a first time for everything, including her scrapping ish. 

 

For now, though, I'm more inclined to believe she won't scrap the visuals. She speaks a lot about "time" in the movie and I wonder aloud if taking her time rather than rushing to tick-box expectations is now part of her mode of operation.

Love Drought was my favorite on first listen.

I'm surprised y'all still care this much about getting the visuals. Obsessing over a year for something that may very well never come to fruition, seems......taxing.

This doesn't make any sense. 
 

She also did most of the performances from TBE and IASF countless times on televison too, should she not have released a concert dvd for them either? It's really not the same thing as in a concert environment.

 

You're also looking at specific isolated moments out of a 2h+ long show. She did Freedom at the BET, but not End Of Time in the water, not Halo in the water. She did CIL remix at MIA, but not the mix with Bootyliciois, not the revamped Naughty Girl. She did the Mine-Countdown mashup at Coachella yes, but Mine and MM&I were quite different from the FWT, and there was no Runnin & All Night. 
 

In any case, saying FWT and Coachella are mostly the same is just nonsense. There are a lot of things one has that the other doesn't, and vice versa. Not to mention completely different theming (victorian antebellum south vs HBCU). If that's the case we can also say Renaissance is a rehash of FWT because she does the same performaces of Love On Top, Formation and 1+1.

im not trying to argue with you. i would love a fwt dvd too, but based on how she releases her live shows, the similarities between the musical arrangements of both are likely why she kept it in the vault. she took *a lot* of the arrangements from FWT, which is what i listed in my post. The live band is the main difference.

I do see your point, but keep in mind that Formation was also 'new musical arrangements & choreography in a while and visuals we hadn't seen elsewhere' when it came out - assuming the dvd/special would've came out late 2016 same way Renaissance film came out late 2023 right after the tour ended. So I really don't think that was the reason. It's probably the pregnancy that made her change her plans as that became her number 1 priority at that time. And between that, being a mother of new borns and an upcoming major festival performance she had already moved on to other things (unfortunately for us).

 

I still believe they are different enough to each stand as its own separate concert experience. Hence why as monumental as her Coachella performance is (objectively better than the FWT), it doesn't really tickle my fancy of professional footage for Formation. 

i wish we had FWT DVD but im not mad bc she added bits of FWT into Beychella. Coachella made more sense ultimately since it was more of a greatest hits show.
