yes absolutely. radio has little to do with Love on Top's legacy.

we've already established she isn't willing to do a promo run anymore. I would have LOVED to see a live performance of Renaissance, but maybe she didn't want it to impact tour ticket sales and all. I get that.

we could have at least gotten a cute CUFF IT performance at the Grammys. or an interview with Oprah or something. I'm definitely not saying I enjoyed getting nothing besides the album from her.

I don't know why you are arguing with me about why a song she performed when announcing her pregnancy is a pop culture staple lol..  It was also number one on RNB radio and peaked at #20. It so happens it was a top 40 radio hit.   And it still remains,  her top streaming songs  are all radio hits:

This infographic doesn’t tell the entire story for several reasons. Radio plays aren’t counted in most countries and there are 7 billions other people not using any streaming services. Even with all of these shortcomings, 17% is still the second best after Streaming.

Radio is still a very powerful tool and she isnt using it. It will never change how much us stans love and listen to her music but it’s a big problem for the GP. There’s a reason why all those football players keep choosing Single Ladies as their favorite song. They just don’t know anything else

now let's not challenge the accuracy of an IFPI report :rip: I'm sure they account for those things when they prepare their global music industry report every year as a 90-year-old organization tracking these things.

I'm not saying radio has no power or impact. I'm saying Beyoncé sending another Renaissance track to radio without doing anything else would achieve... absolutely nothing in this day and age. she needs to do more for a song to become a mainstream hit, and she isn't willing to do that.

all I'm saying is y'all are asking for and complaining about the wrong thing. she needs to perform, put her iconic performances back up on YouTube, give one good interview on her own terms. AMERICA HAS A PROBLEM could have been huge had she posted clips of her dancing on tour to it, filmed a music video with Kendrick, made it a moment. just giving a radio push would have changed nothing about the song's performance aside from adding one or two more weeks on the Hot 100's lower ranks.

Defense hive needs to pick an argument, the graphic shows the strength of streaming YET we are told that streaming doesn't mean anything as well? What drives people to stream your music, PROMO, radio, etc.  And a lot of people opt to listen to online radio.

Radio Statistics

Highlights of radio listening statistics:

  1. More Americans listen to the radio than use Facebook each week.
  2. 55% of Gen Z in the U.S. listen to AM/FM radio every day.
  3. Adults listen to 104 minutes of radio per day, 12.2 hours per week.
  4. Radio industry sees growth through smart speakers and online listening.
  5. 100 million Americans own a smart speaker.
  6. Radio holds the highest share of collective trust across all advertising channels.
  7. 77% of listeners would try a brand or product endorsed by their favorite radio personality.
  8. It takes 2.4 days on average for audio ad listeners to take an action.
  9. Global radio ad spend is a $36.1 billion a year market.
  10. Average cost of a radio ad in the largest U.S. cities is $513.40.
  11. 47% of listeners believe radio ads are a fair trade for their listening time.

Im not questioning the legitimacy of IFPI but even in the countries they track for sales and streaming, there aren’t any official data for airplay. That’s just a fact.

Also your last paragraph, I feel like you’re asking more than the complainers

For her next lead, I just want a friday release, an artwork, radio and playlisting. She can have people do this for her. I don’t want her to lift a finger!

has this been posted? sorry if it has

Gabrielle Union Says Daughter Kaavia Thought Beyoncé's Renaissance Tour Show Was a 'Blue Ivy Concert' (Exclusive)

I miss the 4 era, she treated the music with respect despite commercial performance (and it paid off in the end since people love and know the songs today). All the performances and constant videos being released. No "you are the visuals!" cornball interludes, just pure QUALITY :jonny:

Radio does not just mean music, even though music constitutes the majority of radio consumption.

Globally, among people who listen to music, people whose main medium for consuming music is radio make up less than 1 in 5 people.

for some of those countries, there may be industry data that isn't available to the consumer.

for others, radio might simply be a complete non-factor. a lot of Americans consume radio because they drive everywhere in their metal boxes on wheels (which come equipped with radio). that is not the norm in the rest of the world and their dense population centers. people on the subway in Mexico City, London, Istanbul, Tokyo aren't listening to the radio.

about the last paragraph — that's my dream scenario but I'm not asking for it. I've accepted she's not interested in that. I'm eagerly waiting for visuals, Act II news and whatever documentary she may or may not have in the works. (and my $200 bottle of perfume.)

You guys, I’m trying to come up for a flop name for Renaissance but I can’t think of any, here’s what I got:

-Dangerously in the Low
-Bidet
-I am…Sucha Thief
-4closure
-Sia-Titled
-Minute Maid
-Everything is Flopping
-The Bomb

What would be a good name for Rennie? Dark ages? Medievalssance? I’m not sure… this album so flawless it can’t even get a proper flop nickname. Yes I know this post is very Fleahive coded but I’m bored

Even by your own logic if radio is 20% of consumption, it would definitely do something. No one is saying radio is everything but it's just one of the easily controllable & reliable metrics to give a song exposure which isn't as far fetched as asking her to upload YouTube videos of herself dancing. The low effort of it compared to traditional promo is why that question is being asked lol.

There were several moments during the era where songs were climbing on streaming and radio could of easily been the catalyst to kickstart a decent single run and get a song into the contemporary culture, as I mentioned before it's not about chart run as proven by LOT.

Love on Top did not even chart on Adult Contemporary radio. it was an Adult R&B airplay #1 hit, sure, but so was Make Me Say It Again Girl from last year. do we think that'll have the same legacy and impact? Love on Top never cracked Top 50 on Pop radio either.

it's a massive classic because of the moments she created and the timeless quality of the song. not because it reached #1 on a radio format with less than 10 million weekly listeners.

No one is saying that radio alone is all that's important, it's you who is arguing a  binary of radio being irrelevant. Love on Top was not a classic or smash in 2011 despite performances and video, but through longevity which radio played a part in, it grew notoriety. Obviously there are other cultural factors at play

There are plenty of non singles Bey has performed to death, or that have had a video.... and none of them have great stats. Just look at 1+1...

What are we even talking about here? Beyoncé got her first solo number one in 10 years due to radio. There’s a song sitting in the top 5 that was never a single from 4 years ago due to radio and TikTok. Kate bush  got  a world wide number one  from streaming and radio. Common denominator, a push and multi factors were key. Either way all teams made necessary moves to capture the moment.

The issue here is outside of outliers like BMS, Beyoncé does nothing to adapt to changes or get ahead of the industry. Why make such fantastic albums to not get mass consumption by whatever metric?

Saying she’s past her prime is redundant when we haven’t seen that actually come to fruition because she hurt herself. And potential for multiple hits have been at her grasp.

in all of these cases, especially for Kate Bush and Cruel Summer, radio was not the initial point of promotion. radio followed an organic interest in these songs generated by Stranger Things and The Eras Tour. while radio did help BREAK MY SOUL, it went #1 on album release week due to additional streaming and stayed at #1 a second week due to the Madonna remix downloads.

radio is a helpful promo tool but sending a song to radio without any other effort is not a hill I would want to die on. I could not care less if AMERICA HAS A PROBLEM peaks at #9 at a niche radio format in the United States.

Also isn't it interesting that Sweet Dreams has the second, or 3rd strongest reaction from the crowd?

You would think it was a No.1 single

I can only imagine the reaction if she performed halo, IIWAB, listen .  Crowd would melt.

a leaked song that went on to become a top 10 multi-platinum hit worldwide as well as fan favorite on tour. :clap3:

Countdown, another bop ahead of its time. Certain Beyoncé songs, especially in live performances take a second to truly marinate . I remember when she first performed this on tv and was so excited but it didn’t translate well initially. However by the formation tour, BABY, that hold up transition into countdown. :gaycat6:
