Possible but that just wouldn’t be good business. highly anticipated album visuals + tour film + merch. that’s amazing synergy that would be instantly profitable. it’s advertisement on advertisement.

Amazon Prime is a struggling platform. I hope the echo mess will be on a bigger / better platform.

I just think that there is inherent replay value in a pop visual album based solely on the fact that pop fans re-watch music videos. The average person might just see it once, but RENAISSANCE has a cult following, there's no way its fans are going to turn it on and never go back. Do people watch a film and then re-watch it the following evening? Admittedly, I haven't watched either Lemonade or Black is King in some time BUT upon release I watched them each at least 5 times within the first week. Even for films I absolutely loved, I don't go back to them for months if not years. Could just be me though..

I'm sorry to burst this bubble but stans rewatching her film will probably be like <10k streams per week after the initial weekend.... It's not going to correlate with a huge asking price. The average person is what makes a film a success and allows them to demand a lot.  The average person does not watch an hour+ long music video. If we look to the closest comparison to a visual album, we're looking at musicals. Musicals have strong stories, performances and cast. A Beyonce mood film/music video ain't gonna cut it...

But I suspected she knew this and that the Rennie visuals will take on a more filmic form. But lets see...

What I will give her, is that her small but loyal audience will absolutely shift to a different streaming platform for a month just to catch the visuals. Some films are massively popular on Amazon etc, but people don't trial the service just to watch them. I can easily see 500k people subbing to whatever platform Rennie is on, even if it doesn't have replay value

Exactly! why would Bey allegedly be shopping something she wasn’t happy about. As protective as she is over her image :rip:

Period!

And I understand that the source is speculating, but they weren’t speculating that studios passed on it.  They reported that as fact.

It’s giving “I have one piece of solid info, so I created an entire storyline to go with it”.

That makes so much sense, I’m sure these executives have access to and have seen the Black is King viewership numbers and determined it’s not worth paying top dollar for a visual of a year old project (that Beyoncé won’t promote). There is no replay value anymore, these are videos for an album release over a YEAR ago. No one wants to pay a restaurant $100 million dollars for a microwaved lasagna that’s been sitting in the freezer for a year, no matter how good it was when it was fresh

this isn’t being a “hater” it’s just realistic, and we all know parkwood are bad at their jobs.

Girl boo. Even as a 1 day event this would more than make a R O I for the buyer.

its not beys vault Disney hasn’t had a good show since WandaVision and can’t retain an audience.

THIS!

I really believe this.

She was kind of f**cked with BIK one way or the other because Disney+ was literally new and not in many markets. It's not where her primary audience is either, but BIK almost certainly "had" to come out via that medium because of TLK ip.

At the same time, her no promo approach likely didn't help.

I've always been puzzled by how little BIK is pushed during key windows like Black History Month and when Bey is active. It's cornerstone content Disney+ could be pushing if all was good. But I get the sense neither side is pleased with the response, especially given Mama Tina's lil rant a year or so after about it "not being promoted". She's highly unlikely to have gone public with that if it wasn't the internal sentiment with Camp Bey.

At the same time, playing games of no promo is the equivalent of "play silly games, win silly prizes".

Now she's probably feeling the burn somewhat in negotiations for this. They have the tea and are probably like "sorry, sis".

I imagine her team are countering with all the positive press and buzz around Ren. Hopefully THAT is what pushes the visuals towards a buy and eventual release.

Begs the question... she's been in bed with Amazon this era. Would she really partner with them for the merch deal if they'd already passed on the film? Couldn't she just call up Bezos and say take the film or no deal? I'm confused :'(

No deal on what? Cheap merch... Beyonce is a big artist but we have to put things in context lmao.

Some of y'all are serving Donald Trump yelling fake news at everything :rip: The writer is a respected insider.

I mean, no respected insider wouldn't be posting something about Beyoncé if she doesn't want it. Who knows how many people worked on the visuals and how many appear in it, and how many have seen it, but ofc they wouldn't say a word cause its Beyoncé. It's coming

Also this "she knows her worth" she could've easily done a lower price then demand a higher paycheck for Act 2 after they saw how successful Renaissance was... I honestly feel bad for the small creatives who featured on the project only for it to be delayed into obscurity because they wanted more money from streaming companies :michael:

I mean, I don't disagree with you.

I'm just torn.

The fan in me wants the visuals ASAP.

The objective thinker in me, like you, loves the ballsiness of the stand-off. She knows her worth and is likely future-proofing herself from low-ball deals down the line by not taking one now.

There surely has to be a middle ground that factors in the reality that time is ticking. Pushing it much further lessens the commercial value of the visuals IMO. Really and truly, who - en masse - will give a f**k about the visuals deep into next year for an album that came out two years before?

It's about...balance.

I get that, but i trust her vision with this. If its taking this long, it is for a reason.

Some of y'all are well and truly in a cult. The smallest perceived slight to her business prowess or otherwise has you creating conspiracies out of thin air. Jesus. :rip:

Nah, if she took a low price they will be inclined to want to give her a bit higher than that for another one. But she starts high they will never go lower that that for another project. Beyonce is a business woman who knows what she is doing with her product and i trust her.

:deadbanana4: I screamed the loudest I've ever screamed on this site.

But yeah, this is just proof of what several of us have been saying on here for more than a year now. The industry is even more money hungry than Bey and keeps note of things. The Gift bombing was strike 1, BIK making very little noise outside of fanbase was strike 2, no one wants to be strike 3. It's not the end of the world and she can easily recover, but she cannot storm into negotiations with 2016 asking prices and expect to have studios fighting over her like they did for Lemonade.

i’m sorry but this is just stupid

the visuals release was on hold cause of her capitalist behind not wanting to settle for almost a year?

Because most people on here do not anything about actually running a business and what it actually entails. They will write 2 long paragraphs in here like if bey does that everything will be great. Its giving couch activists.

How can you say this if you don't know her asking price? Do we even know the metrics for how streaming platforms attribute revenue to a film?

Also reading comprehension is really weak in here. The person speculated and did not actually say that was the reason why. The person does not know as well.

By the sounds of it, it was never releasing before March 2023. Viewings were 4-6months ago

I know the power of Beyoncé.

besides netflix throws out ridiculous amounts for movies nobody asked for with D list actors.

this is in high demand. PetiodT.

Meh, if studios were fighting over the film they would have notated that. The fact that the writer felt inclined to say no one would bite is kind of worrisome. I don't understand Parkwood at all.
