But it sounds like you're assuming she's after numbers. I'm arguing her sales exclusivity means the work has a certain allure to it. A cult feeling. Like a film that is hard to track down. The legend of it, the way people talk about it, the relationship the public has to it is far different than an accessible movie on Netflix you can start streaming then give up on and forget when you're bored. imo, Lemonade era from top-to-bottom showcased Beyoncé taking her brand to a new place of art meets culture and YES I agree the more people who see it the better, but we know also Beyoncé subscribes to luxury ideals, and I think she also knows the impact that having a product/work slightly inaccessible to the masses has. And even without it being on streaming, people still knew about Lemonade and regarded it as an important album of 2016...alongside albums that were on streaming immediately.

 

I don't think she was looking at sales waiting for when people stop buying to finally release it to streaming. There has to be more of a reason. And IMO the surprise release of it to Spotify/AM three years later had a bigger impact than if it happened on the first anniversary because of the fact that for a while it had seemed rare and it had time to be regarded as such.

 

As for TIDAL being the only place to watch it... it's on Apple Music for me, and if it's not there, you can still buy it.

True I hadn't considered that. But his music still appeared on the other streaming platforms (off Apple Music for a very short while).

 

4:44, for example, released in 2017 amidst this but was only a TIDAL exclusive for about a week, before it was on other streaming services.

 

In 2019 by the time Jay-Z had put his music back up on Spotify (after about a year and a half), Lemonade was there already.

Yea if she doesn’t perform at the Grammys after Dubai it’s a done deal for me as a stan. I will put my stan card in the trash bin and just become a regular listener of her music and wish her the best  Let’s hope she surprises us, doubt it tho lmao.

Pretty much. Why would she deserve the constant loyalty and adoration, the constant talk and speculation if she gives us nothing to talk about. This time we did it because we didn’t know what we were in for but I guarantee you if the next act comes out and it’s like this, it’s gonna be crickets.

You know that she isn’t going to let the Grammys announce her performance in advance of the event too.. IF she’s performing at all

Her ass gonna arrive late and randomly be found in the front row when her categories are announced.
