Crazy how there are still people who try to propagate and perpetuate the LIE that Kelly Rowland was just as, if not more, talented than Beyoncé but didn’t get the same opportunities and push because of her skin tone. 

 

It’s literally ahistorical  There’s literally no one who seriously believes that Kelly was/is as talented as Beyoncé, and any true DC fan knows this. It’s like they want to rewrite history. 

 

Bey was the lead singer because she was the best singer. Bey was the lead performer because she was the best performer. It’s always Bey that gets criticism for being the breakout star, but men like MJ and JT who were quite literally pushed to their forefront are not confronted with accusations of bias, and are instead congratulated for their formidable talents. No one argues that there were members more talented than MJ in Jackson 5 because it would be simply untrue. But Bey is not given that same respect.
 

And the saddest thing is, it’s always her very own community that pushes these narratives. 

 

Also, none of the narratives make any sense to me. First of all, Kelly was the one with the first breakout solo song with Dilemma and her album. Bey only releases Crazy In Love after that, and then went back to Destiny’s Child to do another FULL era and tour despite the huge success with DIL. On that DF album, everyone did sing lead and had their moment to shine. More than anything, she is STILL close friends with Kelly and Michelle. 
 

This is the last ever time I will address that delusional nonsense. I just needed to get it off my chest. 

 

Work It Out came out before Dilemma though

 

Anyway, let's drop the argument. They're both talented.

I said breakout solo song. Work It Out was not in anyway a success and was for a movie soundtrack. 

 

Dilemma was huge. 

 

And I never said she’s not talented. But there’s clearly a discrepancy in the level of talent. That is objectively true.

Work It Out was a top10 hit here in the UK. Sure it underperformed in the US but I wouldnt say its a total flop. Dilemma just happened to be huge cause Nelly was probably the biggest artist of 2002 and he gave Kelly a trampoline to start her solo career. Stole performed well worldwide for a rock inspired pop song in a time where R&B dominated. She took some chances with that one.

Not sure I’m getting your point? What about my post do you disagree with apart from the fact that Bey technically released a solo song before Kelly?

I agree with your point, just was correcting the WIO statement.

 

I dont agree with their skin color argument but i'm not american so maybe it played a bigger issue there. However in the UK there were several moments where Kelly was a bigger artist, so that argument doesnt cut it.

Fair. I do think that colourism is a thing and is unfortunately a determinant of success level (although, in my opinion, not to the extent that many think), but that doesn’t really apply to DC when Bey was clearly the most talented in the group. 

 

If Bey was the least talented and became huge, then there would be an argument to be had there. 

Lemonade streams being so tragic is so sad.

Formation and Hold Up alone should be pulling the numbers for it so stay above 1M daily.

They better improve the playlisting for her catalog immediately.

Sometimes causation is not correlation. Yes she happens to lighter than the others, but she also is technically the best singer. Could there have been times where the others had more to sing? Yes, cause none of them are bad singers. But it is what it is. She was always destined to be successful cause not only is she talented and good looking, she has a winner's frame of mind. She put in the work to reach her status as a solo artist.

Holding off the album for streaming was counterproductive in the long run, and unfortunately the songs didn't really stick out to the GP. 

 

It's her worst performing album in terms of daily streams. To think that even B'Day is outstreaming Lemonade
