What's going on with Spotify Charts?

Featured Replies

As a lot of you have noticed, White Christmas is the current #1 on US Spotify (11/26). Spotify states that it rose 36 places up from #37 to #1, but looking at the charts on the day (11/25) before, the song wasn't even in the Top 50, at #58. This happened several times to the song, it's always seeing random jumps from one day to another and then completely exits the charts again the day after.

I noticed it one or two weeks before but thought it was just a glitch, but it's literally at the top now so what's really going on with it?

It doesn't make sense at all, but Spotify seems to be combining completely different artists and songs together multiple times now (old Christmas songs at least).

Also, according to Spotifycharts.com, Burl Ives' "A Holly Jolly Christmas" was at #37 the day before and completely disappeared the day after where White Christmas shot up to #1 (from the position Burl was before). Spotify charts seem to glitch old Christmas songs quite often lately, it happened with Frank Sinatra and White Christmas (I think) a few weeks ago as well.

This should be investigated by Spotify, it happens every day now. :toofunny3:

um qurl, who cares.

spotify is a for-profit giant

#23 (-22) White Christmas

#25 (RE) A Holly Jolly Christmas

It's definitely a glitch as it has more streams in the US (1,336,399) than globally (1,067,164) :rip:

The fact that it went No. 1 then to No. 23 is a kii.

And it only affects Christmas songs, too. A case for the FBI indeed.

Not sure why anyone thinks anything on Spotify is organic. They make ZERO money, they’re barely afloat, their future isn’t secure like Amazon or Apple. They’ll take good money for literally anything a label is willing to pay to change/“fix” lol.

An attempt was made to sabotage Cozy Little Christmas and Christmas Tree Farm me think :giraffe:

It's the biggest streaming platform and how are they not making any money when most (?) members have a premium account and are paying as much as AM though

I stand with my brother @TayAlison89 for calling out fraud. Please switch to Apple Music IF you can.

They simply aren’t making a profit. So they’re spending all they’re making. That’s OK but Spotify is easily replaceable and they have no security, so rely entirely on people not switching away. Apple Music could be operating at a loss/no profit but it has Apple behind it. Same with Amazon etc.
