Waffle House debuts in the Top 40. JVKE and Fall Out Boy were not purged (but they might as well be if radio doesn’t want to play them).

Rain on Me feels so out of place just based on sound. Would never think HAC would spin it like that

Last few years hot ac has been preferring dance pop. Which is weird because pop has not.

I think it's because millennials are the target age of Hot AC now and edm/dancepop was our thing.

I myself am a UIFY fan. Love that guitar solo in the bridge. But I've moved on.

Yeah, I should move on from this, since it already peaked on streaming and HAC. That said, people should move on from Calm Down, and let those spins go to newer songs, so they can climb the charts and keep radio fresh. Nothing is worse than to see songs go to waste, like the new ones by JVKE and Fall Out Boy.

Miley Cyrus’ ‘Flowers’ Scores Rare Triple Triumph on Pop, Adult Airplay Charts

“Flowers” becomes just the seventh song to have led Pop Airplay, Adult Pop Airplay and AC concurrently in the 27 years that the three charts have coexisted. (AC launched in July 1961; Pop Airplay in October 1992; and Adult Pop Airplay in March 1996.)

Here’s a look at the select seven songs popular enough across all three formats at the same time to rank at No. 1 on the three charts simultaneously. “Flowers” is the first since Adele’s “Easy on Me” last year, and the second in a row on Columbia, which has promoted four of the seven such hits – including three by Adele, thanks to the lead single from each of her last three studio albums (30, 25 and 21).

  • “Flowers,” Miley Cyrus, one week (to-date), 2023
  • “Easy on Me,” Adele, three weeks, 2022
  • “Thinking Out Loud,” Ed Sheeran, one week, 2015

It still blows my mind how much radio is paying this dust. It's one of the highest streamed country songs by someone not named Morgan Wallen in YEARS :deadbanana2: It should easily be destroying County, HAC and AC right now.

She almost missed it too. Kill Bill was already #1 on Mediabase Published by the time the BB week ended.

Zach Bryan doesn't really participate in the "mainstream" Nashville country scene, so maybe that's why radio programmers are paying him dust, since country radio still requires a lot of promotion and building connections.

He didn't even get a nomination for Best New Artist at the CMAs, despite being THE breakthrough story in country music right now, so yeah.

With Something in the Orange's 52 weeks on the Hot 100 coming up, country radio needs to make a decision in the next few weeks whether to push it or to drop it off. No more middling around 7-8M AI to potentially skirt the recurrent rule and screw over a fresher song from charting on the Hot 100.
