I think despacito could have reached 9M since it's the song with more weeks at #1 in digital songs (15 weeks).. when it was #1 outsells the #2 by at least 50% 

In 2012/2013 the #1 easily sold +300k, imagine despacito doing +350k-400k (average) for 15 weeks = 5.2-6M in 15 weeks only
