It doesn't matter only one can get the prize #1 spot.  Overtaking Taylors two week old song should have been easier especially

since she's blood red at night.  IMO, Zayn and Sam are not going to outsell "shape of you"  because both are moving slow.  Lwymmd hit #1 very fast.

So much wrong with this post. 2 weeks is not a long time firstly. Taylor is not just any old popstar she has a huge fanbase. This is her first new music for 3 years. Zayn is not a major solo artist. He is hugely famous but doesnt have the stats to be a major solo force in the charts. Harry outsold his album in almost first week.

 

Sam snatching #1 is amazing for him. He doesnt have fans who will rush out and buy at midnight in their thousands. Theyre more sensible and will wait until they get up in the morning. Brush their teeth, have a cup of tea. Then buy. You have to factor in fanbase demographics when talking about how fast songs leap up charts.

 

And who said Shape of you is the bar? Sam has a few big hits but albums are very much where his strength lies.
