This is just Sam's sophomore era, he still needs to prove himself

 

He's also more of an album artist than a singles artist

 

If radio responsive is positive, then the song should be a hit.

I dont think Sam needs to have a big smash hit he just needed to release a solid song that reassures his fanbase that his new album will be more of the same quality ballads. Thats his brand and thats what the fans will want more of.

I lowkey agree with this, but than again many said he wouldn't pass Taylor, so let's see what happens.
