Saying streaming is the new black seems very apt considering how much it seems to favor urban acts.

 

Kygo and Katy both have 2 songs in the iTunes WW Top 10. Does this happen very often? Obviously Ed Sheeran would have done it, but I can't imagine many occasions where multiple artists have multiple songs in the WW top 10. However, I'm not very familiar with stats like this.

Rise refusing to die.  Katy's three classics all still selling, Roar coming for 7 million pure sales in 2050!

Itunes WW is very much weighted in favor of the number of countries you chart in. So you dont have to be high in each chart to have a high placing. Katys new song is not even top 10 in vast majority of countries but she's a big enough star to chart in lots of places.

 

Plus some songs have a staggered success in different countires. Like James arthurs song which was already huge globally last year.

She has not even given any details. Capitol is probably releasing random songs and seeing if one sticks and then they will go with that. Her team is so awful lately.

Imagine Dragons slaying.  I'm happy for them, even when Believer sucks but they compensate with that beautiful bop called Thunder.

Capitol's press release confirmed that Chained To The Rhythm was the lead.

It doesn't matter what y'all call it. 

Bon Appetit is the second single.

 The lack of album news is hurting her I think. Also Bon Appetit rollout is a mess (no radio deal, no lyrics video)

All these pop stars are nothing without radio.

I think she'll scrap both songs from the album. She needs to start afresh.

When you really think about it, Ariana kinda took a lot of her stanbase  

 

Katy's biggest problem is her inability to release a good song. Flop or not, it's kinda worrying that she can't offer anything of quality or at least new for her. If the music was better this would be a totally different conversation, but she's just released a boring song and now a bad one.
