I agree. Madonna has been dragged about her age and called old in the papers since she was 28! At nearly 70, Madonna gave an incredible VMA performance with artistic concepts and choirs and current artists and older artists and actors and singers and dancers. Meanwhile, some dated 70's rock band gets on stage with a lead singer who takes off his shirt at 75 and sings with his FRIED, CRACKED vocals due to heavy drug use (Hi, Miley) and gets praise for doing what he does at his age (the bare minimum). Can the critics come up with something else? Can they come up with something else? ...Vin

Anti-Black racism isn't "on the rise." It has been here (in the US) for centuries and will continue to be here for the foreseeable future. Anti-Black racism does not "ebb and flow," Black Americans have been dealing with the same constant deluge of racism and microaggressions since the 1600's when they were brought to North America against their will. Again, like I said in the other thread, let's keep Black issues out of this conversation. The correlation will never work, not to mention being highly inaccurate and verging on inappropriate. In regards to Mamdani's alleged "strategy to combat antisemitism," I highly doubt that if he made a statement detailing a "strategy to combat antisemitism, transphobia, and islamophobia" that it would appease a certain group. There's a certain group that doesn't want to see the word "antisemitism," either because they do not think it exists, or worse—because they think antisemitism is valid. ...Vin

The poll results. I don't know what CRACK you all are smoking, but if Taylor Swift goes anywhere NEAR pop-rock, music critics will IMMEDIATELY compare her to Olivia Rodrigo, with headlines reading "Swift heavily borrows from the artist she tried to destroy with new album." So, no—the pop-rock avenue is done for now. Her only option is COUNTRY, and it's the right choice. I would be SHOCKED if she delivered an album of boring Hack Boretonoff synth music for the FOURTH ALBUM IN A ROW. That would be truly shocking if she did that. That would actually prove that she really is "creatively bankrupt" like ATRL suggests, because she can't be bothered to come up with something else. Country is the way to go. And she's smart, so she already knows this. Yes, she'll get the "back to MAGA" comments, but that's better than the Olivia Rodrigo comparisons. Not to mention, the predictable "MAGA comments" would be categorically false, while the Olivia Rodrigo comparisons would be valid and based in reality. In conclusion, no pop-rock. No synth music.
