Was this the most disrespectful moment ever recorded in the history of modern pop?

Featured Replies

Celine made a surprise appearance at the 2024 Grammys after publicly announcing she was suffering from a rare syndrome causing violent spasms—a condition affecting one in a million people that would eventually claim her life.

Following an emotional standing ovation from the assembled artists (including Miley and Billie) and the audience, Celine announced the winner of Album of the Year.

What followed was a scene of indescribable disrespect, awkwardness, contempt, and condescension. The "Album of the Year" winner bounded onto the stage like a rabbit in heat, forcibly dragging Lana along as a prop, and swirling the people on stage around like water in a toilet that had just been flushed.

The "Album of the Century" winner then violently snatched the trophy from Celine's hands—using a technique only she knew to make it go unnoticed—without once looking her in the eye. It was a deliberate, calculated gesture, seemingly intended to show Celine that she—not Celine—would command the attention that night.

Celine, appearing completely taken aback, still offered a sincere congratulation—because Celine is a genuine person—whereas the "Album of the Millennium" winner completely snubbed her while delivering her acceptance speech, flanked by the entourage she had forcibly dragged onto the stage despite their obvious reluctance.

Celine is known for her genuine kindness—arguably the most benevolent person in the industry—always there to cheer on her female peers and speak highly of them. Whether it's Gaga, Rihanna, Ariana, or Madonna, Celine always has something nice to say about everyone. Recently, she was even spotted dancing to Miley's new song outside her hotel in Paris. And then, suddenly, an artist acts ungratefully and appears to treat someone like trash on national television.

Was this the most disrespectful moment in the history of modern pop music?

The overdramatics lol.

I rewatched this and she was clearly just caught up in the moment.

She eventually did interact with Celine backstage and was literally fawning over her. There's many other things you could try and drag Taylor for, but this unfortunately was a misstep on your part babe. Try again!

That was the turning moment of Taylormania. Most casual fans turned on her that night. People in my friend circle who were supporting her prior, started dragging her for Celine snub and for announcing a new album while accepting an award, saying she always has to make it about herself etc. I was still defending her back then, trying to excuse both actions, but looking back, it's clearly the moment she lost the GP support and was left with her lil variant-loving Swifties.

I had been eagerly awaiting this photo, though I didn't expect it to surface so soon.

This picture proves one thing and one thing only: Taylor rushed over to Celine, begging for a photo—after her PR team alerted her to her ungrateful behavior—in a bid to dispel any doubts about her actions. Celine looks petrified and stiff (nothing to do with her situation that night), while Taylor appears overcome with remorse, leaning heavily on Celine as if physically trying to force her to accept conduct that Taylor knew was appalling—yet ultimately entirely deliberate. Taylor is an intelligent girl; she does nothing without a reason

I was there that night and that was not happened. You started screaming "see, she always makes it about herself!". People shushed you and told you to go home. Next day you sent an audio in the group chat crying and saying you were off your meds

this was

Aretha was asking for somebody to lift the show up with her, asking very clearly, (the other two ones were not able to for obvious reason, and Mariah was too whaterver to do so) so Celine having self confidence and wanted to give what Aretha asked, jumped into it. After that, if Aretha was not able to accept the fact that Celine can compete with her, it's the problem of anybody except the ones that feels threatened

absolutely, just see the difference (guess the caliber of their class matches their talent)

mariah explained this best, yes she was asking for someone to help her lift the show, not someone to think they were battling or going toe to toe with her

Exactly. This is how you act with a legend next to you. What Taylor did was on purpose and was hiding something dark minded

Damn, you really made me rewatch this....

She is so unrefined, so grotesque in her expressions, so careless in the way she connects with the people around her. A horrible, miserable human being all around.

Aretha was clearly looking for someone to battle with, like come on, she was trying to grab Mariah by force to bringing her up front stage but Mariah was just not there that evening (where it all started to stumble for her from my perspective). Celine showed up and compete with her. Aretha never subtly liked Celine for I don't know reason and I'm sure Celine (who is a great fan of her) felt sad about it so even for a genuine person when you feel down by someone you need to show them you have control and Celine did that. Who was bitter about it? Aretha and Mariah. Everybody else applaud Celine

Yeah no. Aretha wanted someone to lift it up with her, not for someone to go against her in a versus vocal battle. Celine pulled a White Karen move there and tried to upstage Aretha, when basically the whole show was designed with Aretha as the central figure that everyone else respected and showed deference to. Celine completely misread the moment. It was not about self confidence, it was about a lack of respect towards Aretha.

Now this is how you handle legends. Taylor was out of pocket with that!

Ok so Aretha wanted a back up singer to go front stage with her and let her sing while the other one was making back ground vocals? Come on, it was Divas Live and Aretha was asking for someone to lift the show, Celine answered and lifted it even higher, if the other ones couldn't do it it was not her problem. Once again, only Aretha and Mariah were bad about it, ego was hurt that night? For sure
