obviously the old acts benefited from eras when albums sold allot and i mean allot.  I hope one day the industry figures out a formula to take into consideration inflation and music industry changes.

Mariah and MJ are the only talented ones that deserved it all.

The same can be said about singles. The digital singles peak was bigger than the albums sales peak.

Example: soundscan peak is at around 990 million albums, but 1,3 billion digital tracks.

Selena is 89!

many acts are missing from the list, RW - Europe's emperor - sold 55 million albums alone.

Sir Paul McCartney deserves a mention. The Beatles, The Wings, his solo career. Amazing!! :jonny5:

What is this? Album sales WW, Record sales WW, Record sales in the US?

That’s neither a logical approach nor a mathematical one.

990M of a 20$ album much huger than a 1.3 billion peak of 1,99$ singles.

So the albums’ peak is like five times the singles’ peak.

Not that you can compare them, but if you could the album peak is ginormous.

There is no way this is overall, PF and JD alone are almost 40M in sales+streams.

Of all the acts debut after 2005, when albums starting to die. Only Adele can compete with this method.

Its cool thats Taylor is still in top 50 though.

Read it, I will not explain it well.
But it seems to be the closest to reality on the internet.

George wrote and produce his every Wham song. Wham wasn’t a group like DC who had tons of producers and writers.

Yes George was basically a solo artist. If you look at every Wham! Album it’s produced and written by George.

for years Billboard discredited George’s #1s with a Wham! Until recently which is stupid because he did the work.

But I don’t see a problem with artists using their former groups sales especially when they performed so  technically MJ, Justin, Diana, and Bey should be credited for their sales from their respective groups.

FACTS!! Billboard even counts the Wham hits as George’s :eatpopcorn:

I can see only Rihanna, Adele and Taylor can reach 100M+ club  :jonny5:

Not Lorde being on there but not Meghan. That Chartmasters site is a joke, he only "analyzes" who he wants to

They actually take it very seriously and detailed, you have to ask them to analyze Meghan, or wait till they do it. Even so, the list include most of the big names on music history...they publish what they have analyzed so far and i don't think the list will change that much when they finished the work some day.

It's basically SPS, hope you're familiar with that.

Where the hell is Elvis Presley?

I think it is on analysis now because his data has been very confusing throughout history. But he must be top 5, i guess.

Stay tuned here:

Nope. If anything, older acts are at a disadvantage when viewing these stats because people actually had to leave the house to support them rather than just pushing a button on their phone.
