Or plays are just more spread across more different songs and artists

Maybe because they deleted the fraudulent accounts that didn't pay.

I only pay because it's basically unusable if you don't subscribe to Premium. A 2 minute ad break after every 2-3 songs is a major pain in the ass. It didn't used to be like that a few years ago. You used to be able to listen to one ad and get 30 minutes ad free (and sometimes I swear they went way over).

And when you choose about 5 songs you want to hear just to be told "you've reached your limit for the day, you can choose your own music again tomorrow."

And Apple Music? ryan3

ChatGPT says this: (not listing the Asian ones)

01 - 300 million - Spotify... number as given
02 - 125 million - YT Music Premium
03 - 108 million - Apple Music
04 - 85 million - Amazon Music
05 - 9 million - Deezer

Seems like YT Music is #2 (and funny how BB doesn't count that anymore), exclduing 125m paying listeners from impacting the charts (US or international)
