the album was so bad, people started listening to an old TD track so it helped her in a sense

The album itself being not that good, going back to work with disgraced producer Dr. Luke to chase hits, a music video and song featuring 2010s era feminism but was marketed towards male gays….

All this was bad, but I genuinely believe it was the trip to space that sealed the deal for her. (Which is technically part of 143 era with the album's sci-fi theming and Katy revealing the tour setlist while in space.)

All of those things mentioned above about the album were online talking points (amongst Gen Z, gays/pop girl stans, English speaking countries that care about western celebrities, etc.) but the trip to space was bad publicity to the global GP, every generation around the world.

Even to this day she gets trashed for going to space in the comment section more so than the 143 album.

in terms of her reputation, I believe that it was a net negative and at the end of the day will have harmed her. yes, it did make people go back in her discography and (re)listen to certain old songs and cause them to become viral, however, she could've set up something brilliant as a turned corner post-the Smile disastrousness, but instead she went to dr. luke which is the last thing she should've done. she should've gone full pop rock back in 2024. new producers or One of the Boys and Teenage Dream-era producers OTHER THAN LUKE. a reunion with Bonnie. given us her All I Ever Wanted or her The Truth About Love or something along those lines. like genuine full sugary pop rock instead of anything super dancey and synthesized. anthemic like the One of the Boys title track or Waking Up in Vegas as the lead single. I think it would've been major and would've reinstated her as an underdog or something. working with luke was the worst thing, musically, she could've done post-Smile. it's nuts and was just ridiculously misguided. now all the goodwill is gone. completely wiped. songs going viral is always a good thing, but those are the songs themselves that are going viral, not Katy herself. not who she is. she could've had a big return with pop rock but now it's too little too late giraffe don't be fooled by Legendary Lovers gaining its deserved traction all these years later. that's not gonna last forever. she's still, overall, tarnished her brand so much with her 143 tomfoolery

…or wait which song is it that's viral? it's Legendary Lovers right? someone on the first page said a Teenage Dream track so now I'm confusedryan2

Isn't it the most panned album in pop history?

The way some comments here read as if it was just mid album ddd
