Like a lot of massive breakthrough hits it was essentially a novelty song, it's forever tied to that time period right before Covid, pre TikTok dominating and Reels, when the monoculture was alive for the last time (also the year Avengers, Game of Thrones and Star Wars Skywalker Saga concluded). Billie was the last great big star the old system produced. After that the algorithm took over. No artist who broke through after 2019 has reached Billie's level of fame.
