i read it as "Manon," and my jaw dropped to the floor 💀

"Fire Away" is amazing. So epic. I can't stop playing it, i'm obsessed. "Car Crash Baby" is very cool too. Don't like "Hi!" tho. I'm waiting to see if he drops a 4rth song before pre-ordering the record.

Thnx to Slayyyter for making me discover this a few days ago and managed to get a Virtigo vinyl variant!!

You missed out on the Vertigo vinyl variant, it was limited to 300 copies!

Unfortunately too expensive to be delivered in Europe, and not knowing if I'll like the rest of the album I'd rather wait a bit still. ^^

Hi

Fire Away

Lonely Space Age

those are really hitting so far

Im definitely not lovin this album as much as Good Faith-Adventure (Some of my most fave male albums ever)
I give this a 6.5/7
Is like he moved to a total different direction to his edm sound-stylistic choices
Is electronic but too influenced by rock-punk-distorted-grungy. I also feel like some structures feel poppier*

But im appreciative of it
He evolved and tried something different instead of repeating the same tricks
he also tries to come with the best visual-fashion-live concert things with his small budget
and even if i dont vibe with this record that much i can feel how rich is his production......... He's major in the edm world. S tier
i dont want him to delve more in this sound for the next record tbh but he needed a dark era to expand his horizons
Good job

Something i noticed is how he's winning new fans with this album.

Im opening up to the album. He's supreme when it comes to production. I see him as an edm prodigy
So many layers in his music

Finally listened to this and the only thing that really clicked was Somebody Else, and to a slightly lesser extent Dancing On Your Grave. I need a bit of time but I think Lonely Space Age will grow on me, so that one as well. Maybe Enjoy too - it's pretty catchy and feels like a cute summer radio hit or something. Fire Away is fine, catchy, but rather unmoving. A lot of the rest of the album ends up sounding a little messy in a way that's clearly intentional, but that doesn't elevate the final product in the way it seems intended to. None of it is actively bad or anything, and I can see why he wanted to go this direction and I see some threads here and there from his prior work to this, it's just that it doesn't end up hitting - and liking 3.5 to four out of ten tracks is disappointing when I was so looking forward to more from him after Good Faith, which I thought was an excellent album.

I guess I'm really just not into the direction he attempted to take with some of the material here, and to some extent honestly I think he should just finally release Out At Sea as a standalone single and he'd get about ten times as many streams from me with that alone. The project that he was creating with that and Gonna Be Good, which at least was actually released I guess, seems like it would have been light years ahead of this in overall quality and execution, even if less ambitious by way of being less unexpected in overall sound. I'd rather that project come out, even as an EP, than wait another 7 years for who knows what. I don't think any track on this project comes anywhere near living up to Gonna Be Good or the bootleg live recordings we have of Out At Sea (thank god for YouTube).

Funny, since their careers seem inextricably linked, that this is basically just the Porter Robinson problem all over again - it feels like he went in a particular direction sonically and aesthetically more for the sake of doing something new than for a reason like actually having a more compelling album to craft that overcomes the advantage of building on his older sound in a way that more completely utilizes his significant skill and experience. At least I like more of this album than I liked of Smile, though - that one only had one track worth salvaging!
