They didn't really see her as me, so I had to go in and prove myself too. Nathan: So did people try to say "This is what roles you would be good for" before that? Alexa: Kind of without saying it. I just don't think I would be typically looked at for a lead role. You never see a mixed or a Latin girl as a lead. Yeah, it was hard and I was over it, and I was over people saying no to me. Alexa: Yeah, I just felt there was a lot—like Sam Levinson, the creator of the show, he just allowed for a lot of collaboration, even the look of my character and specifics, like her loving Sharon Stone in Casino, that was from a conversation we had and me expressing my love for that character. I like to be in control of the vision of it. I'm just very specific. As an actor, it's hard sometimes because you just have to go do whatever everyone else wants you to do.
