I use to listen to Gracie when I would rock my baby to sleep and she was perfect for that so I don't get the comparisons between her and this big, synthy pop song.

I was thrown off a bit on my first listen, but now I think this is a very good song. It's such an interesting pick for the first single and there are some genuinely great melodies in it, plus I really appreciate that it's completely different from her other leads.

I don't think it will top vampire (that's my fave song of hers), but I definitely prefer it over drivers license.

Nah, there was definitely more hype around this release but vampire had better overall reception.

the confusing part is that it was pretty clear after obsessed that the GP wasn't totally keen on her rockier singles, bad idea right, get him back and obsessed all underperformed. I loved obsessed but it was so jarring to hear on the radio between songs like espresso and we can't be friends. Let's see how this does in the long run

really was jarring but i agree, since rhe album announcement the hype is bigger but as a single- vampire had more of an unanimous reception.

what shocked me this time though was the speak singing. i thought she was going to leave that behind GUTS after bir and ghb! underperformed.

Vampire was great but was not a summer song. Should have been released in early October.

I think this song will have better longevity because it is perfect for spring/summer

and it all made perfect sense as to why vampire wasn't front loaded. it also had longevity and ended up being one of her classics. the way the crowd goes crazy for this live in insane. it was probably the loudest in my show, next to traitor & dl.

People need to realize that even if this might not click with everyone, there are literally 12 other tracks on this album. Can you imagine if Billie released lunch before album release?

vampire had a fantastic long-term longevity tho, it only started to get less than 2M daily streams after spilled release. It did pretty well in Europe too for that type of song in the summer.

Also it's hard to compare "hype" between Vampires and Drop Dead. OR2 early promotion was very Vampire-forward. It was announced first and promoted first. The promo push has been on the album this time around, with Drop Dead an after thought promo-wise.

in hindsight i could see GUTS actually having 2 number 1 hits if she released get him back! (or even bad idea right) first, anything she releases post SOUR would have gained traction. and come fall with the album release, vampire would have been the actual smash.

i fear we are getting a ballad from FAGSIL as the 2nd song she will perform at SNL.

I loved GUTS, my fav Olivia album for sure, but I feel like a lot of people didn't love the continued rock sound in terms of single success. It just wasn't what was on the radio. Good 4 u was a smash because of how out of left field it was for her, and there was a lot of pop rock in 2021

She does NOT need to formally release another song until 6/12. Performing one on SNL is fine, but don't release to the public yet.

yea, i like it better than than SOUR too but that was just a what-if. it was so clear with "obsessed" the gp wasn't here for the continued rock sound. i feel like Olivia and the label didn't care tbh, it's amazing that she was able to revive such a dead genre at the time, and still have such a following who would stream and purchase concert tickets regardless of the genre she puts out.

so i guess in their mind they were like, who cares about the gp when she had a fanbase like that going on. those kids barely care about these alanis and the cure she keeps yapping about and bringing om stage
