Yes, the cassette industry is no longer as mainstream or popular as it once was, but it's far from extinct as it has evolved into a niche, retro market for collectors and enthusiasts that continues to grow in its own unique way. Regardless, I personally enjoy them and love the nostalgic feeling they bring along with them.

i have a tape player and i like to play them sometimes but (like most analogue things these days) the SQ is not what it used to be, i think they lost the habit of making them for people to play rather than collect. they're cute and fun to have but it's very niche i think

It's still relevant in UK, but for most countries no and it will stay that way.

That's a valid point. Thankfully, most modern cassette releases are made in small batches for fans and collectors, not on the scale of old mass production. Some companies even use recycled shells or eco-friendly packaging to reduce plastic waste.

Absolutely not! It is a terrible format. The booklet photos are very small, the sound quality is awful, and you can't fast-forward or rewind songs easily. On top of that, the tapes wear out quickly, and the audio gets even worse over time. It's fine to do a very limited run for the true fans of the format, but it's far too flawed to become popular again.

No, they are literally worthless and horrible. I'll take CD and vinyl anyday.

They sounded terrible but idk it was my childhood and I used to always make mix tapes for our car rides 

 

I just hated the little tape walkman my dad got me for camp and the sounds were unbearable to the point I had to ask for a cd walkman that year 🫠

The quality is TRASH af. With vinyl you at least get a big version of the cover to admire and good audio quality.

I actually love the small packages! But that must be nostalgia talking...

They're the pits of portable music quality and convenience. At least there's a case to be made about vinyl as they have a distinctive sound + look good as decorations but cassettes? They're worthless plastic. 

Yes. They look beautiful. But just for that. Otherwise for listening, it doesn't make sense
