Have you tried EMDR therapy?

Featured Replies

what's your experience? Do you prefer it to regular talk-therapy?

I tried it a couple of years ago and loved it. It changed my life for the better and entirely changed the way I see life and interact with the world. I'm a lot happier and more confident now because of it

Yes, it's amazing. Really good for people with deep trauma in a stable place currently to tackle it. I wanna get certified in it one day.

I haven't done EMDR yet, but I did a fair amount of brainspotting in rehab (and done it periodically since) and really, really liked it.

I haven't, but my bf did, and it worked so well. It's crazy

I didn't find it super helpful but know it's done wonders for others

I have just recently obtained approval from my insurance to get this treatment. I am 28 and have suffered from depression most of my life and have treatment resistant depression.

I'm just scared of asking work for time off. I live in Brighton and the only providers my insurance covers are in London, so I basically have to get the train to London everyday for about a month, which is also going to be expensive. But at this point I am willing to do it if it means my life will improve.

Unfortunately my insurance doesn't cover the rapid rTMS where multiple sessions are done a day, which would have saved me money on travelling to London everyday ugh

I just started doing this with my therapist and it really does help. It's almost like being hypnotized to make you have a more positive outlook on life.

I tried it a while ago for a trauma I had and it helped, but I personally responded much better to cognitive behavioral therapy.
