Was Jesse McCartney underrated/underlooked?

Featured Replies

I've been listening to his discography lately (including his new albums), and honestly, his songs are super catchy compared to a lot of the basic male singers from that era. :jonny6:
He was stuck in that Hollywood Records contract—just like Hilary Duff—and that really held him back from reaching his full potential....but there was some big teen frenzy about him back then i remember

Even with limited promo, he still managed to land one of the biggest pop songs of 2005, "Beautiful Soul,"
and another major hit in 2008, "Leavin'." (Check the year-end charts of billboard for receipts 📈)

He was also real hot-cute :gaycat4:
He was basically Justin Bieber before Justin Bieber when he started….but with less industry support
and then kind of turned into a mini lit Justin Timberlake:cm:
He was definitely havin respect and escaping from that Disney Bubble with his third record, but Hollywood Records delayed-cancelled his electropop album from 2009–2010 and totally wrecked his career..........i wonder how he feels about that :biblionny:

When we talk about Disney stars, we always mention Miley, Selena, Demi, Raven (Cheetah Girls!), Hilary, Vanessa, and Ashley…
but I like to include Jesse Mccrtney,Lindsay Lohan and Aly Aj too—In that 2000s golden age of Disney
to me all of them are icons

What do you think about him? Do you have respect for Jesse Mcrtney?
Do you have his old or new songs in your library? :gaycat4:
in the times when he was really famous what were your feelings about him? im curious :gaymuscat:

In the last years people been shittin and mocking him for his aging-looks but i find that really rude cause u cant control your aging and genetics
and i feel like those types of conversations erase his achievements as a young teen idol :giraffe: love to jesse

He's also one of those disney stars with a very classy, unproblematic and successful and peaceful life.
Those are rare....
cause yll know all teen and child stars have really traumatic-challengin pasts* and they go in wreck mode

If you were there at the time you'd know that he could be a lot of things, but not underlooked. Actually he was overrated as hell just because he had blonde hair and blue eyes. He was never that good looking and was an okay singer at best.

Leavin' and How Do You Sleep were huge smashes in my household. It's Over, Shake, and Make It Special were very modest hits too. IDK any of his other sings.

Thanks for Bleeding Love king.

He was definitely like the white counterpart  to Chris Brown (Youngsters)
and Justin Timberlake the White counterpart to Usher

To me he was good lookin sis. I had erotic dreams with him sis
I was like this gay cat. My bussy was ready

Its really weird how hollywood records marketed hilary duff and jesse mcrtney as bubblegum teen stars with their first eras BEAUTIFUL SOUL-METAMORPHOSIS
they had big success with them......
then  they shifted their directions to Rock Music with their Sophomores........But their promo was really really poor
They had great commercial products and they just wasted them. So damn stupid :biblionny:

Hilary_Duff_selftitled.pngab67616d0000b27356eb7123dc43e849680ef869

and then they rebranded them as adult stars with dance r&B music inspired by britney-nelly-timberlake :gaycat6:
and they got traction with these new eras but hollywood promo was lackluster too.........

They even hired max martin-dr luke for Vanessa hudgens second album but they dropped the project and didnt release singles at all.
the stupidity of it :suburban: worst label ever

I felt like he could've had a few more hits in the early 10s with the right material. He grew a bigger fanbase than Disney, and was taken a bit more seriously.

Yes.  Departure was a great album that showed her could finally cater to mature audiences.   If it was released with a major label instead of Hollywood Records, I'm sure it would've had more singles and higher single charting.

Departure was a Hit album, and also one of the best pop male albums that year. And his Technicolor album was a good pop record. I haven't listen to his stuff since that one. But bro has talent. I still own some old CD's of his. And he still tours smaller venues and stuff.

i only know she's no you because of the hannah montana soundtrack and it was a bop, thinking about it makes me feel so nostalgic :loud:

I like all of his albums, so yes. He was very underrated.

In case he fell of your radars completely, he has two albums he released after Departure which are both very good (though not as pop accessible).
